Are starting an edit war?

[edit]

The family origins are from Saudi Arabia, and the part that moved from Abu Ghosh moved before Israel existed as a state. Why is Israel name being injected into this? this is not even part of the story. --Tarawneh (talk) 18:27, 19 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Tarawneh There is a independent article about Abu Ghosh family and the origins are being disputed. The Israel name is not being injected. News sources are reporting that the people of the Abu Ghosh are celebrating and his family come from the city and it's in Israel. So, I just followed the news sources. Also, statement "Immigrated to Jordan before Israeli declaration of Independence" is not proper. Jordan became independent state in 1946, while Israel in 1948, so unless you have a proper information they immigrated in the time frame from 1946 to 1948, it need to be reworked. Arthistorian1977 (talk) 22:29, 19 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Additional question. I searched the information in James Finn book and didn't find anything about his grandparents. First, it have just 508 pages, while you mentioned page 580 (?). Second, it talks about 1853 to 1856 timeframe - quite old times for a grandparents of someone who was born in 90s. Also, those are the times when what would eventually become Jordan and Israel were parts of Turkish Empire and "immigration" can't be mentioned. Arthistorian1977 (talk) 22:39, 19 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
You may refer to it as Israel-Palestine, I think that's the most accurate option, he's part Palestinian but Abu-Gosh is in Israel.31.154.81.68 (talk) 03:16, 20 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Until proper sources are provided, the only information available is that his family has roots in Abu Ghosh. There are no any verifiable sources, that can tell us when and why they moved to Jordan. So, as for now I think it's the only information that worth to be in the article, without starting an edit war. Arthistorian1977 (talk) 15:39, 20 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

His grandparents history

[edit]

Folks, you're starting an edit war here, adding some statements like "His grandparents were expelled", without citing any verifiable sources. The overall article about Nakba can't be used as source for his grandparents history, since it does not mentioned them directly. Also, there is no any source, saying when his grandparents moved to Jordan as I already mentioned above. The only verifiable information is that his family hails from Abu Ghosh and I think this is what have to be in the article, if we want it to be neutral. Arthistorian1977 (talk) 18:58, 20 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

ArtH' hope you're still following the events, I think we should write he is of Palestinian descent rather than his granpar' from a Palestinian town, because today it's part of Israel, and that's confusing and misleading calling it Palestine, we should simply say he or his relatives is/are Palestinian/s and that he/they originate from Abu Ghosh, (no Israel no Palestine- there's a link for further info).31.154.81.13 (talk) 16:09, 21 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
What does "Palestinian descent" even mean? What if his mother is not Palestinian? Makeandtoss (talk) 20:26, 21 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I am sure he is no "pure breed Palestinian" if that what you're implying(disturbing somehow however)... he may have other descents like most people do, it doesn't mean he's of no Palestinian descent or in short writing he's of Palestinian descent doesn't mean he's exclusively of that descent...31.154.81.13 (talk) 22:31, 21 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Too bad, then why don't we add Jordanian descent if his mother is Jordanian. Its a vague term. Makeandtoss (talk) 00:22, 22 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
If you've got a source that specifies his mother's ancestry then by all means add it. IgnorantArmies (talk) 07:12, 22 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I am not quite sure what Jordanian descent is, anyway you can add, as long as it's true that he's of other descents Jordanian, Arab, Bedouin, Saudi, Falha...31.154.81.13 (talk) 14:01, 22 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Jordan's first ever Olympic medal

[edit]

Jordan won a bronze medal at Taekwondo at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, but it was a demonstration sport. --Holapaco77 (talk) 13:13, 22 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Good catch - that needs to be clarified.Peter Rehse (talk) 13:51, 22 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
