Discussing the name: Leontiev vs Leont'ev vs Leontyev

[edit]

I would like to finally determine the English spelling of the name of already three (!) generations of the Soviet/Russian psychologists, namely, Alexey Nikolaevich, Alexey Alexeevich and Dmitry Alexeevich.

According to the recent issues of the Journal of Russian & East European Psychology, the correct spelling is Leontiev.

Then, Google search (keywords: psychology+Leont*ev) returns:

for Leontiev - about 29.000

for Leont'ev - about 13.400

for Leontyev - about 658

as of 02:35, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

Now, what spelling should we choose, after all? --

I suggest choosing Leontiev, just in case.
