Lowercase of exhibition name[edit]

Hi Met228 and Kiraface -- I'm tagging both of you with this question because you've been editing the article recently (thank you!) I originally typed the name of Sherald's 2019 exhibition in lowercase: "the heart of the matter..." I did this because it's like that on the gallery's website here. I don't know a ton about art exhibitions, and maybe you do -- do you think it should be lowercase in the article? Thanks, and let me know! This seems like the right move to me. NYT has it capitalized, but that's probably from their own style guide. I would go by the official gallery listing. --Kiraface (talk) 17:52, 14 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Let’s see if we can’t all work together to improve this entry. For my part I think it’s become overly long but care should be taken in condensing, and in process we should aim to simplify the language. What other changes do folks see as necessary? I can especially help trim the section on the Obama painting because I wrote most of the main entry for that so it doesn’t need to be repeated here. However recent contributors found some material I didn’t so I’d like to move it before deleting it here.

Pronouns[edit]

Hi Mishraunc321 and thank you for your additions to this entry. I wanted to ask about two sentences you added to the section on the Obama painting:

“Sherald set up a photography session in D.C. and went through many dresses with her stylist, going with something casual and sleeveless...Sherald discussed her use of grayscale with Obama to ensure that she would not be marginalized and could produce a universal piece, giving the audience a way to see themselves within the portrait.”

Some of these pronouns are unclear to me amd it’s sourced to a video I’m unable to watch. Could you tell me: in the first sentence, is “her stylist” about Meredith Koop, Michelle Obama’s stylist, or did Sherald bring a stylist?
