Personal/Family Life
[edit]Question: Was she born/baptised as "Annabelle Allan Short" (as here - source is subscription only), "Annabelle McCauley Allan Short" (see current reference [3], article Ella Logan and many web sources), "Annabelle MacAuley Allan Short" (from a relative at http://wiki.answers.com/Q/When_did_Annie_Ross_move_to_the_US), or "Annabelle Macauley Allan Short" (Kenneth Tynan's sleeve notes for "Annie by Candlelight"). At the very least there's a Wikipedia inconsistency to resolve.
Should the article have a Personal Life section? Such might include her 1949 affair with drummer Kenny Clarke (and her son Kenny Clarke Jr), her involvement with with drugs and Lenny Bruce in the 1950s. Marriage to actor Sean Lynch in 1963 (divorced 1975). American citizen since 2001. There's a useful 1993 NYT article http://jamesgavin.com/page6/page67/page67.html http://www.nea.gov/honors/jazz/jmCMS/master.php?id=2010_07&type=bio

- Thanks for the pointers! I've had a go at expanding the article, primarily using the sources that you listed. Graham87 12:58, 24 December 2011 (UTC)
Nationality
[edit]Born in England but to two Scots parents; her brother was most definitely Scottish. But then she moved to the States as a small child. So I doubt she should be called English (q.v.). I propose she should be upgraded to Scottish! But I have emailed annieross.net in case Miss Ross has a preference. [Technically, she's British in her early years as neither England or Scotland issue passports. Many people stateside refer to Britain as England which upsets a lot of Scotsmen. You may have guessed I am Scots ... — Preceding unsigned comment added by DGrainge (talk • contribs) 00:31, 4 December 2011 (UTC)
"Chanteuse" ?
[edit]Even in the 50's that was already an archaic term, as was "cabaret" (although "cabaret" went through something of a revival in the 80's). Still, I think the term "night club singer/entertainer" is probably more appropriate. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.92.174.105 (talk) 21:16, 22 March 2012 (UTC)
