This is not a real thing.[edit]

Argentinians typically don't consider Mexico a proper rival, as the Argentinian team is typically much superior to the Mexican one.

A one-sided rivalry does not exist 90.166.134.189 (talk) 06:37, 9 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

this is very true. this is not a rivalry but one invented by the Mexican media. This page should be removed. Factcheckaudit (talk) 14:55, 12 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The is no such thing as a "Hispanic Derby" or "Latin American Derby". It is not listed on any search engine. Someone make it up to make the games between Mexico and Argentina sound relevant. Factcheckaudit (talk) 14:57, 12 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with all of this. A rivalry is one where both teams...and their sets of supporters...really look forward to beating each other. It's a game that both sets of fans have circled on the calendar and is routinely seen as a "big game" by both sets of fans. Mexican fans have this mindset towards Argentina, but Argentines do not towards Mexico. I would not object if someone nominated this page for deletion. G. How can this page be deleted? it sounds like some Mexican fan desperate to make their national team relevent. 2603:8001:DC3C:2388:21D7:ABEF:C117:1B32 (talk) 06:46, 17 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I have just nominated the page for deletion. G. Capo (talk) 17:07, 21 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
for some reason this page is still up and not deleted. I like to think the Knicks have a rivalry with the Warriors because they play a few times a year...but we all know the Warriors are a dynasty and this is a desperate page trying to make Mexico relevant in the football world. 2603:8001:DC3C:2388:34D6:C80:D0A3:69B2 (talk) 15:05, 2 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
We had a discussion on this. It was decided...by Wikipedia standards...that this is a rivalry. G. Capo (talk) 20:39, 17 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
One sided rivalry that Mexico fans are begging for to see relevant. They haven't beat Argentina since 2005 and they want to claim these two squads as being rivals might be the most delusional thing on Wikipedia. It's literal comedy. 2603:8001:DC3C:2388:1862:F6D:6208:FF58 (talk) 16:08, 28 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Songs, Chants and Fines[edit]

At the 2022 World Cup, Mexican fans sang about the Malvinas War between England and Argentina. This is because Mexico can not beat Argentina at football so instead the Mexican fans mock wars, poverty in Argentina and the Argentine economy. Mexico have been fined again and againCite error: There are <ref> tags on this page without content in them (see the help page). by FIFA for their homophobic chant while Argentina have been nominated by FIFA for Best Fan Support of the 2022 World Cup. Here is an example of Argentinian song dedicated to the fake rivalry.

“En mi México nací... tierra del gran Luis Miguel. De novelas de Thalía que jamás olvidaré. No te lo puedo explicar, porque no vas a entender. Aunque no somos franceses alentamos a Mbappé. La historia se repitió, porque de nuevo en Qatar, jugamos con Argentina y nos volvió a ganar papá... Mis chavos... no se vuelvan a ilusionar. No jugamos ni con tierra. Somos de la Concacaf. Canelo... enojado te podemos ver... llorando por la playera... esa que pateó Lionel.” 2603:8001:DC3C:2388:A00B:AD5F:683B:EF7B (talk) 14:14, 20 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Canelo and Messi after another Mexico loss[edit]

Mexican boxer Saul "Canelo" Alvarez accused Lionel Messi, the Argentina captain, of kicking and stepping on a Mexico shirt on the dressing room floor following Argentina's 2-0 World Cup win over their CONCACAF rivals on Saturday. An enraged Canelo sent a message to Messi, stating, “I hope he asked god that I don’t find him.” The tweet received backlash from all over the sports world.

Canelo has since apologized for tweet threatening Lionel Messi. "These last few days I got carried away by the passion and love I feel for my country and made comments that were out of place for which I want to apologize to Messi and the people of Argentina. Every day we learn something new and this time it was my turn."

This section is ridiculous, there is no Mexico-Argentina rivalry[edit]

Argentina has never considered Mexico a rival. Last friendly match between Mexico-Argentina, 99% of argentines didnt even know there was a friendly between Mexico and Argentina, even though the argentine supporters are considered the most fanatic football supporters in the world. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 200.2.121.77 (talk) 13:56, 16 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

what are you talking about? Mexico is very competitive. They just lost to Qatar 0-1. 2603:8001:A001:4014:C899:FD18:D6BB:5A10 (talk) 02:54, 5 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
