The result of the move request was: moved to Austrey, South Africa. There is no consensus at this time that Mosinki is the common name. (closed by non-admin page mover) Extraordinary Writ (talk) 18:49, 22 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Austrey, North WestMosinki – Bold move was reversed with no objection given. Name was changed in 2007. Very little is written about this tiny town but all official and academic sources use the new name.

  • Support, per nom - cannot find any other coverage. BilledMammal (talk) 02:45, 7 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. The name used for this place on internet sites is Austrey. The only reference found to the place being called Mosinki said that it was previously called Austrey. So clearly Mosinki is not the common name.
There are no relevant search results on Google News (see below), but ordinary Google search and Google maps show it as Austrey, and do not show it as Mosinki. So from a purely practical point of view, Austrey is useful to readers. The only evidence that the name has changed is a book published in 2014.
A normal Google search for Austrey "North West" excluding Wikipeda yields a few relevant results. Google search for Mosinki, excluding Wikipeda and Botswana yielded no relevant results. There is a Mosinki Secondary School in Moshaweng Municipality, but this is 69 miles (111 km) by road from Austrey, North West.journey
There are a few references in books.
  • Lee, Cathy; Schaaf, Thomas, eds. (2008). The future of drylands : international scientific conference on desertification and drylands research, Tunis, Tunisia, 19-21 June 2006. pp. 383, 386. ISBN 9781402069703. This mentions Austrey
  • Raper, Peter E; Moller, Lucie A; du Plessis, Theodorus L (2014). Dictionary of Southern African Place Names. ISBN 9781868425501. This says that Mosinki was formerly called Austrey, and gives its correct Lat and Long.
  • There are some older references to Austrey found from a Google Books search, for example The South African Farmer's Advocate and Home Magazine (1931) mentions the "Austrey herd", which might be a reference to Austrey, though it might be a reference to a farm named Austrey in another place.
