Self governing autonomous state

The article states Kashmir as a "nominally self-governing state", which is not true. From a neutral point of view, Azad Kashmir is an autonomous state within the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. The people of Azad Kashmir do not elect members to the Parliament of Pakistan, instead they elect their own parliament, which elects a Prime Minister and President of the state. Pakistan only controls defense and foreign affairs. I suggest an edit to include this important info, rather than a statement as vague as "nominally self-governing". Thanks!

  • Oppose : POK is not the WP:COMMONNAME. The term is mostly used in India, on a geo-political context. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 09:36, 4 July 2023 (UTC)
  • Oppose. The Wikiprojects India and Pakistan consensus of August-September 2019 (Please see the archives of WT:INDIA) considers all first order regions of the Kashmir region to be disputed, the Indian-administered, the Pakistani-administered, and the Chinese administered. It laid out the language of the lead sentence of each subregion and the info box syntax. The Pakistani-administered regions were: Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. The consensus had the support of a large number of editors, including over half a dozen administrators. This region was “Azad Kashmir.” Fowler&fowler«Talk» 09:55, 4 July 2023 (UTC)
  • Oppose: As per Q1 in the FAQ above - we do not refer to Jammu and Kashmir as "Indian occupied Kashmir" or "IOK" - Arjayay (talk) 11:06, 4 July 2023 (UTC)
  • Oppose per WP:COMMONNAME. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:23, 4 July 2023 (UTC)

  • Oppose and SNOW close: There's no way in a hundred years a proposal like this will gain consensus. 2001:8F8:172B:41ED:D29:1C35:FD1B:A642 (talk) 16:12, 4 July 2023 (UTC)

  • Oppose: I think it is a common way of describing the parts of Jammu and Kashmir occupied by Pakistan. The term is not synonymous with "Azad Kashmir". "Pakistan occupied Kashmir" includes Gilgit. "Azad Kashmir" does not. The term is also not NPOV; "Indian occupied Kashmir" also fails the NPOV test.-- Toddy1 (talk) 10:55, 6 July 2023 (UTC)
  • Oppose and SNOW close - there is really nothing in the nomination that brings up any novel argument why the long-established consensus should be changed. --Soman (talk) 11:41, 6 July 2023 (UTC)
  • Strong Oppose. Even if we look past the biased Indian terminology, "Pakistani Occupied Kashmir", does not merely refer to Azad Kashmir. 148.252.132.228 (talk) 10:03, 7 July 2023 (UTC)

Please remove this phrase:

Azad Kashmir's financial matters, i.e., budget and tax affairs, are dealt with

and replace it with this:

Azad Kashmir's budget and tax affairs are dealt with

All of these are common terms; no need to explain what "financial matters" are. 123.51.107.94 (talk) 00:27, 21 July 2023 (UTC)
