Ghosttowns.com[edit]

Thanks for starting the article. Just a note that ghosttowns.com is not a reliable source but that same info is probably in Oregon Geographic Names. Valfontis (talk) 19:18, 13 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I immediately deemed it a substandard source, but it was the best I could find. Thanks for the source tip, if I'm lucky my local (nowhere near Oregon) library will have a copy. I'd be very interested to know if the town was disassembled, or merely submerged, and on what date. 78.26 (spin me / revolutions) 19:43, 13 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
This has been on my to-do list for ages, so thanks again. I'll check my usual sources. I have a copy of OGN and so does Finetooth and a couple other folks. Some of the stuff from the ghostowns site is copied from a couple of ghost town books so that might be someplace else to look. Some Oregon towns that were submerged were just submerged, and some were moved. Great topic! Valfontis (talk) 20:07, 13 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Further research[edit]

Lots of good info here; mentions relocating the cemetery.

DoneAccording to a contributor on ghosttowns.com the community had, by 1905, a general merchandise store, two grain warehouses, a hotel, livery stable and stage stop, real estate office and an agriculture implement factory. More research needed. There is a bit of info here, but it's from a blog and in the past the community has determined the may not be a reliable source.

Found a source for the 1905 info. Valfontis (talk) 19:19, 19 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Rootsweb is not a reliable source but gives more things to follow up on. Blalock School and the info that the graves from the Blalock Cemetery were disinterred and moved to Arlington in 1962. The Illustrated History also mentions someone who went to teach at the schools there. Basket social. Mention of school district board meeting. We can easily say there was a school there with these but I'm hoping for something more concrete. I think I've exhausted what Google has to offer. I'll try to check newspaper archives when I get a chance. Valfontis (talk) 20:26, 19 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Valfontis: [This site] mentions a couple print sources regarding the cemetery move to Arlington. At least I think they're print sources, perhaps only government reports in storage somewhere? 78.26 (spin me / revolutions) 15:04, 28 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
