Refurbishment

As noted, much of this section reads like it was lifted directly from a TfGM press release, with arguably peacock terms and buzzwords used rather than a more factual explanation. There are also issues with the tenses, as some of the content implies it has not yet happened. I would question whether referring to the initial rebuild of the railway station (prior to the bus station moving) really qualifies it as an "interchange" and would suggest the references to "Bolton Interchange" before that are switched to become "Bolton railway station", but am willing to be convinced otherwise. I remember the 1980s rebuild, it was planned as an interchange. First they demolished a row of shops on the eastern side of Newport Street, between the railway and Trinity Street. On this site they built the new bus station and taxi rank, when it was opened it became the town centre terminus for the routes running to the north of the town that had previously terminated along Newport Street itself - those running along Chorley New Road, Chorley Old Road, and Halliwell Road; also some of those along Blackburn Road and Folds Road. Right from the start this new facility was named "Bolton Interchange". The new railway station building was adjacent to this, perched on a steel girder structure which formed one of the piers for the new footbridge, and when it opened soon after the bus station, they were also shown at street level as "Bolton Interchange", but the platform-level signs remained simply "Bolton". --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 20:59, 10 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
