"Philanthropist"?[edit]

The title of this page is, “Brian Hooks (philanthropist).” A philanthropist is generally understood to be someone who donates lots of money to charity.

From my reading, Brian Hooks is not a philanthropist (in the manner of Bill Gates), nor does he run a philanthropy (in the manner of the Novo Nordisk Foundation). He is more accurately described as a leader of nonprofits that advocate for certain causes.

I don’t feel strongly enough about this point to change the text, but I think it deserves discussion.

Agree, this page title is misleading. Possible alternatives: Brian Hooks (nonprofit executive), Brian Hooks (nonprofit leader), Brian Hooks (policy advocate). Marquardtika (talk) 15:50, 20 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Hooks says, "For the activist and leader of Stand Together, see Brian Hooks (philanthropist)," so I'd recommend changing the page title to either "Brian Hooks (activist)" or "Brian Hooks (nonprofit leader)."
What do you think? Feel free to make the change directly if you'd like.
