Career

[edit]

Stating her career began in 1971 is nonsense. She was in a 1967 Doctor Who story, for which one of her episodes still survives as proof, and she was in Granada television productions soon after Coronation Street began near the beginning of the 1960s. 2A00:23C8:8F9F:4801:1061:C34A:54A7:EC8A (talk) 23:56, 2 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Birth name

[edit]

Where has "Brigit Dorothea Connell" come from? Thanks. Martinevans123 (talk) 11:01, 2 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I see that IMDb has her born in Malton here and FreeBMD has this record. Martinevans123 (talk) 15:58, 2 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Martinevans123 Malton looks to be correct. Black Kite (talk) 23:51, 2 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it does. So some adjustments required. Good find! Thanks. Martinevans123 (talk) 08:33, 3 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Not sure what to do about the name. Both IMDb and FreeBMD are considered unreliable sources. Martinevans123 (talk) 09:12, 3 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
User:Rigg has very kindly added this source from the Stafford Post dated 4 June 1998, which says: "Full name: Brigit Dorothea Connell, then Brigit Connell, then Brigit Forsyth but my married name is Brigit Mills." So I assume Brigit Forsyth was her stage name registered with Equity. Martinevans123 (talk) 17:14, 3 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Forsyth was her mother's maiden name. Anne Forsyth married Frank Connell in late 1935 or early 1936, again in Malton. 38.95.13.133 (talk) 08:55, 4 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes thanks, the FreeBMD record shows that. Is there any source to confirm that she formally adopted it as her stage name? Martinevans123 (talk) 09:04, 4 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The Guardian obituary (as opposed to their article which reports her death, which has already been used as a source) states that "she changed her professional name to Forsyth on her return to Lincoln in 1962". It could be used as a source. Here: https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2023/dec/03/brigit-forsyth-obituary 38.95.13.133 (talk) 09:22, 4 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
