It's amazing how little effort was put into this page. Everything here is stuff copy and pasted from the Canadore website. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.243.14.155 (talk) 23:43, 9 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Content dispute[edit]

I have fully protected the article for 24 hours to quell a content dispute between ThePaSch, CLCStudent, Canadore College Marketing and several IPs. While I think editors should not scream their head off, the content they removing was either unsourced or poorly sourced, and a comment above suggests the article was at one stage a copyright violation (and hence should have been deleted per WP:G12) - indeed, Earwig still reports a 40% possibility of copyivo and several instances of close paraphrasing. In fact, I concur with the comment from 2008 that this article is by and large, rubbish. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 14:03, 7 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

DISPUTE UPDATE

Hello, I have the most substantial claim to this throne; Dan (Canadore College Marketing) formerly Canadore College Marketing. I am a currently working in the Canadore College Marketing Department, a current student at Canadore (2 out of 3 years), as well as a long list of additional credentials and experience. Our marketing team is revisiting all our social media platforms as well was other web presence locations. This includes this Wiki page, that is in fact incredibly out of date. The changes I have made so far include remove facilities and services no longer in existence. There are many additional changes that need to be made that include OUR LOGO, campus locations, photos and of course the content; that indeed is currently lack luster. Please refer the the link of Campus locations as proof of logo inaccuracies as well as campus changes. Campus Locations - Canadore College

Once these updates have been done, I would like to have this relocked to prevent "editors" who are in fact not related to the department or even the school, as their choices to revert to hopelessly outdated and inaccurate content is very detrimental to the institution. Based on the comments left above, the individuals appear to be "trolls" or "trolling" and should not be allowed to slander an amazing institution. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dan (Canadore College Marketing) (talkcontribs)

@Dan (Canadore College Marketing): I think possibly a better idea is to nominate the article for deletion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, as I cannot find any independent sources about it. As you say, the vast majority of the article is unsourced, unverifiable and about ten years out of date. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 15:30, 7 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Ritchie333: It would require at least one non-primary source to survive WP:SCHOOLOUTCOMES, yes? Would this source [1] be enough for a stub? --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 15:59, 7 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
That would probably be enough to survive outright deletion, but without a couple of similar sources, I think a merge / redirect to North Bay, Ontario#Post-secondary schools may be a suggested alternative. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 16:02, 7 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
We always keep colleges, if there exists even the trivial-est mention of it over some independent source, that asserts of it's mere existence as an accredited degree-awarding institution. And, I'm seeing a ton of such sources over here. I don't like it but it's the way we do stuff. And, I don't see a minuscule chance of anything other than keep in an AfD.WBGconverse 16:29, 7 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Do you ever have one of those days where you seem to get everything wrong? I seem to be having one today - I did a news search on "Canadore College North Bay" which brings back far less.... Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 16:34, 7 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
News searches are always going to bring back less than useful stuff about sports teams and reactions to events, but I agree it would be advisable to avoid AfD if possible and just cut this back to informative and brief. For example, the proposal to have secondary-school students educated there as well could be briefly mentioned. @Dan (Canadore College Marketing): as others have undoubtedly told you by now, the article cannot be locked against editing by outsiders; it goes in reverse, what we'd love is for you to use your inside knowledge to find as many unaffiliated references as possible so that the article is based as little as possible on the college's own publications. The official website is linked right there in the article for readers to consult for further info. So if some programmes are no longer offered or campuses no longer exist, or something like that, the up to date listing as well as the history needs to be bolstered with third-party references. Ritchie333 I'd have mucked about with the punctuation, at least, but for the full protection. But we wikignomes can wait a day. Yngvadottir (talk) 17:24, 7 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Ritchie333, it is definitely turning into one of those days, although to be honest it didn't start that way at all. I have read the responses to the edits. I do not feel that I was necessarily out of line and uncivil, my name was intentional in order to indicate who I represent. Removing inaccurate and false information is something that needed to be done and I was being undermined at each turn. I was unaware of the polices and procedures in relation to edits and employment. Please refer to my bio for credentials.

In compliance with Wikipedia policy, I will most definitely be vigilant to support information with as many sources as possible. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dan (Canadore College Marketing) (talkcontribs)

@Dan (Canadore College Marketing): The thing is, most of those are from the college. Yes, it exists. We need third-party material about it to flesh out the article. Yngvadottir (talk) 17:39, 7 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, based off of todays discussions. I have attached a strong list of third party references to develop the Canadore page off of. Once again, my goal is not to silicate but rather provide current and accurate information on the Wikipedia page. I will be writing and updating tomorrow with original/copyright fre content.

I have bulleted this list of links for legibility. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 20:54, 7 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you Drm310, editing Wiki has been a sharp learning curve. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dan (Canadore College Marketing) (talkcontribs)
