Merge[edit]

{{mergewith|Carlos McKinney}} Are they the same person? I came across both pages a while back and was going to merge them but after scanning them both I couldn't see any information that made me think both articles were about the same person. Merger[edit]

"Merge" is not the same thing as "redirect"; it requires effort, a transfer of information such that nothing is lost in the subsequent article. Furthermore, he is listed in encyclopedias under his given name, and I see no reason for it to be listed under a production pseudonym. Thus, I suggested the other article be merged here; do I need to do it myself? Chubbles (talk) 03:38, 10 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

As I said on the talk page of the other article: Are they the same person? I came across both pages a while back and was going to merge them but after scanning them both I couldn't see any information that made me think both articles were about the same person. AnemoneProjectors (talk) 12:08, 10 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You know, the lack of corresponding information is rather staggering. On the "Carlos LOS DA MYSTRO Mckinney" LinkedIn profile that shows up in a Google search, his education is listed as occurring at the New School, which corresponds with the jazz musician. Also, searching Allmusic for Los da Mystro takes you directly McKinney the jazz musician. But I can find almost nothing substantial about the "Los da Mystro" pseudonym. Los Da MystroCarlos McKinney — Page recently merged. McKinney is listed in jazz dictionaries as "Carlos McKinney"; there is virtually no published material which addresses him as the pseudonym. --Chubbles (talk) 16:30, 14 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Did we definitely establish that they are the same person then? Because there was no overlapping information in the articles to suggest it. AnemoneProjectors (talk) 16:42, 14 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
We did not. Everything I found was posted on Talk:Carlos McKinney. I think they are the same person but the evidence is thin. Chubbles (talk) 17:05, 14 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The Singersroom interview just posted to this page by the merger substantiates the connection. (I got an error message but if you search the site it'll come up.) Chubbles (talk) 17:09, 14 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Of course they are the same person, check the interview. Or maybe they both had a good Uncle Harold who taught them piano. Shoplifter (talk) 17:46, 14 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I fixed the link to the interview. Shoplifter (talk) 17:52, 14 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment in order to avoid violating WP:GFDL, something will need to be done with the page history... or you could just undo the merge, and remerge the other way? 70.29.211.163 (talk) 09:50, 22 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
