ALT2: ... that despite having been released in summer 2020, Chappell Roan's song "Pink Pony Club" was described as "the Song of Summer 2021" by Vulture? Source: Vulture
Review is coming: I never heard of her but I am going to review it because I listened to that Pink Pony club song just now. Also ping me when you get a QPQ done. Bruxton (talk) 01:08, 27 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Overall: Waiting on a QPQ. Article has 3600+ characters and it was just over 572 characters until the 26th of December - so it is 5x expanded. Earwigs calls out some direct quotes, but they are not copyright violations, they are properly referenced. The references support the claims. In the claim about being discovered in "11th grade" the actual reference says she was a "junior" in HS when discovered - and it is the same thing, but I think it may make a better hook to say junior? But I am not married to the idea. There are 7 separate claims which are referenced to the "Vulture" reference, so perhaps we should check for references that present more diversity of references. The neutrality is a question. It is flowery and gushing, - like this kid is a rising star and she is going places! I saw a sentences about her "imminent popularity" (I removed it). I saw an ambiguous statement about her song appearing in summer 2020, the reference actually said April 2020, so I changed it to read April 2020. There is no picture but we do not need one. I think it is a more interesting hook to mention she was discovered from a youtube video. I will present an ATL here but I can live with ATL0 also.
I believe there needs to be additional research regarding their birthday/ personal information regarding this individual without tiktok as a referenced source of information disinformation can cause problems to the artist and possibly others without steargarded information in place that is accurate //you might be placing this person in some hot water for something that is not accurate. 72.68.117.233 (talk) 17:13, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, I am new to Wikipedia editing however after reading through this page I think it's important to note Chappell's style of performing and where that stems from which is Drag Race. Rachelscriver (talk) 21:44, 22 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hey all, have been seeing some commentary on Reddit and other sites about edits citing Chappell self-identifying as a lesbian frequently being reversed. Is this due to inadequate citations or something else? I think if she's using a more accurate label it makes more sense to use that. TariffedSparrow (talk) 01:14, 18 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That does seem to be the best source. I added it to her Personal life section, with careful wording. Wikipedia tends to be very cautious when it comes to personal identity--short of the person saying "I am X" explicitly, they often seem to avoid simply saying "This person is X." Unfortunatley, so far I wasn't able to find a source where she clearly, directly, calls herself a lesbian. BlueRoseGardener (talk) 05:27, 2 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I am aware that this likely isn't the best source, but right now it is all that's available so I would like to submit it for consideration until we have something better. This is a video from her recent concert in which she explicitly states "I'm a lesbian now". https://x.com/lesbianvillanel/status/1799299769292271886
Again, I am aware we will probably need to wait until there is a better source than a video on Twitter, but those were the words from her mouth directly calling herself a lesbian. Redandsymmetry (talk) 16:21, 8 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
She said in an interview that she has been criticized for doing drag as a woman: «I never understood the pushback on why girls can’t do drag. I do drag – it makes me feel good and free, it’s the same feeling that the gay boys feel. To me, it feels like they just don’t like women doing things. It’s just another man trying to tell a woman what to do. I’m a drag queen, whether you like girls doing it or not.»
While Chapell Roan certainly dates women, this article claims that she identifies as lesbian…the cited sources do not seem to prove this. The first source is a random twitter user (doesn’t seem completely reliable) and the second is a billboard article which talks about lesbianism, but includes no quotes from Chapell Roan herself stating that she is lesbian. There does not appear to be credible evidence that she is lesbian. I think there is strong evidence to say she “identifies as queer,” and that might be the proper phrase to use. 2601:1C2:1900:8170:6D34:EEBA:8B6B:6375 (talk) 02:51, 28 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Although it's not the best source, MOS:IDENTITY says to "use the term that the person or group uses", and that's what the twitter/x video shows. She has repeatedly made statements identifying as a lesbian, and in this case I think consensus has fallen on not trying to wiki-lawyer her identity. Alyo(chat·edits)14:31, 30 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
