Timeframe

[edit]

Do we have a timeframe for when this company was active? should it not be in the introduction? - Im.a.lumberjack 15:20, 20 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've restructured the article a bit and made the timescale more explicit. Pete Fenelon 21:16, 20 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Chevron Cars vs. Chevron Racing

[edit]

There appear to be two companies currently claiming Chevron heritage. Could someone please comment on how these two companies are linked, how they formed, and how they both appear to have rights to the Chevron name and badge. Thanks. Pyrope 08:27, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Chevron History: The Facts.

[edit]

Chevron History: The Facts.

Chevron and Derek Bennett Companies liquidated in April 1980. All assets bought by Chevron Racing Cars Scotland Ltd including all copyright in drawings, components and car bodies assigned to that company. Chevron Racing Cars Scotland Ltd liquidated in 1983. All assets of this company including copyright in drawings and materials required to manufacture Chevron racing cars were purchased by Roger Andreason for Chevron Cars Ltd.. Majority shareholding in Chevron Cars Ltd purchased by Chris Smith from Mr. Andreason in 2006. Roger Andreason remains as a Chevron Cars Ltd. shareholder. Substantial investment by Chris Smith. The intellectual property of the original Derek Bennett companies belong to Chevron Cars Ltd. Chevron Cars Ltd is not connected to any other company which currently uses the “Chevron” name. Do not confuse them or their products with any of Vin Malkie’s companies. All Chevron race cars are built and prepared exclusively by the UK’s premier Chevron experts Kelvin Jones Motorsport. A track record of 40 years – now under new ownership and here to stay.

All of this requires citations and references. Not that much of it makes any sense, and mostly reads like an advertisement. You mention names with no connections of how the company moved from one to the other. From my understanding, there are two legitimate companies who use the Chevron name, both connected to the original Chevron. The359 (talk) 03:34, 28 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Chevron Cars v. Chevron Racing. Update November 2009.

Chevron Cars Limited, now owned and run by Chris Smith, has successfully opposed trade mark applications by Vin Malkies' Chevron Racing Team Limited for Chevron B8, B16 and B19 trade marks.

The Intellectual Property Office issued its decision on 25th November 2009 after Chevron Cars opposed an attempt by the Malkies' company to obtain trade mark registrations. The Office found that Chevron Cars is "to be considered to be the senior user of the Chevron mark" and refused to grant the trade marks applied for by Chevron Racing Team. It also found that Chevron Racing Team was wrong to believe that the Chevron mark fell into the public domain after Roger Andreason (from whom Chris Smith bought the Chevron business) earlier failed to renew Chevron Cars' previous trade mark registration.
