United Methodist Church Article

[edit]

I have recently run into an editing issue regarding a LGBT/Christianity topic. It has to do with the article on the United Methodist Church. A user is trying to keep an issue hidden by accusing me of vandalism or POV. I would appreciate help dealing with the issue. You can see what is going on by reading the talk page at Talk:United_Methodist_Church#Inclusivity_item.

Bible and homosexuality - neutrality dispute

[edit]

This section currently presents only a very "affirming" view, please see discussion on the topic here or compare to main article summary. Tikru8 (talk) 10:07, 13 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Transgenderism

[edit]

Why is this even in here? That isn't a sexual orientation. And why is the title "LGBT orientation"? That makes no sense. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Caineus (talkcontribs) 21:26, 29 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Gnostic Beliefs

[edit]

This section needs some citations, mainly because it is just a block of text that is coming across as either WP:OR of the editor/s that put it there, or as unverified information. I'm going to assume that it isn't OR on good faith, but citations should ideally be introduced. I don't know much about detailed Christian beliefs, let alone Gnostic, so I would ask if an editor of this page could please introduce some citations to verify the information.

General clean-up

[edit]

Hi! I noticed that this article needed a little bit of updating and clean-up. I updated some church's stances on some sexualities, and shifted some information around to make it easier to read and understand. I also deleted some sections that seemed out-of-place in a reference article, like a list of books in the "Bisexuality" section.

Deleting "Gnostic" Section

[edit]

I was looking at the "Gnostic" section today, and trying to figure out how to source everything and clean it up. I could not find any verifiable sources that supported anything, however I did notice that a lot of researchers and theologians don't consider Gnosticism to be a part of Christianity. [1] Given that, I'm considering deleting this section, because of the poor sourcing, and because theologians and researchers seem to consider it apart from Christianity.
