There is no Pop 100 data for the majority of those singles!

Why on earth are there all these Pop 100 peak positions listed for all of Christina's singles when the Pop 100 was only created in 2005? It doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Anyone care to explain? 69.149.225.33 (talk) 18:18, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

This is the discography documenting albums and singles released by Christina Aguilera.

Christina Aguilera (album) had already gone eight times platinum in the United States by the end of 2000 for selling 8 million copies, which is pretty impressive. As far as I'm aware world wide to date it has sold somewhere around 20 million.

Stripped apparently sold more than 11 million worldwide (this is out of date remember).

Back to Basics last time I checked over a year ago had sold over 5 million.

My Reflejo has sold over 3 million.

Keeps Gettin' Better: A Decade of Hits, I'm not to sure sorry..

But to answer your question Aguilera has definately sold 42 million. Her label hasn't updated these statistics after the release of Back to Basics onwards I believe. Same thing happened to Britney Spears with her label, one day she had 75 million next day she was on a 100 million.125.238.96.175 (talk) 13:37, 11 June 2010 (UTC)

Important: SINGLES ORDER

FOR THE EDITORS: Since they did not have a video and they were not released worldwide, Slow Down Baby and Oh Mother must be in Other Singles part. Oh Mother was released in some parts of Europe and Slow Down Baby only in Autralia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Terneris (talkcontribs) 21:54, 25 November 2008 (UTC)

Those singles must be added to promo singles or Other Releases.

You'll get a better response if you post new sections at the bottom, where they belong (use the "new section" link next to the "edit this page" link, usually at the top of the page). Also, you might want to address the following:
  • Why does not having a video, or not being released worldwide, make it not a single? (please refer to Wikipedia policy and/or external reliable sources)
  • Why should a record that was sold and charted in at least one country be considered a promo? Promos are necessarily unreleased, yet you say these recordings were released as singles in at least one country (remember Wikipedia is English-speaking, and avoids taking the POV of any particular English-speaking group, such as a region or state).
  • Excessive use of bold text, particularly in violation of WP:BOLD, while permitted on talk pages, is unlikely to convert others to your way of thinking.
  • Do you have reliable sources that the other singles do have videos and were released "worldwide" (you'll need a definition of worldwide as well)? Otherwise, by your criteria, all would need to be moved from that section.
--Rogerb67 (talk) 01:56, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

Response: I think you're a Christina Aguilera fan and if that's true I find it hard to believe you didn't know what I'm saying. So? According what you said, why don't you have Dynamite as a single??? Slow Down Baby and Oh Mother have the same qualities of Dynamite or The Christmas Timas, or My Reflection: They were released as promo or not worldwide singles. Slow Down Baby was just released in Australia to promote her tour that those days was in there, and Oh Mother was released in some parts of Europe to promote her DVD: Live And Down Under, and Dynamite was just released un the US to promote the album Keeps Gettin' Better - A Decade Of Hits. All these three singles did not have a video or a public performance in TV or whatever, just on tour, and even Dynamite didn't have a public performance. To put Slow Down Baby and Oh Mother in singles, in a total mistake since they were not promoted with the importance of all the singles in the list of singles. That's how people can get confused. In others Discography in others languages in Wikipedia, those two singles (SDB and Oh Mother) are not even in any list, and if they're in any list, they're in promo singles. That's why they deserve just to be listed in Other Releases or in Promo Singles, it's the most logical way. Even in Christina Aguilera's official discography in her web site, Oh Mother is not as a single. Oh! and the Chris Cox remix was charted in Bulgaria and Mercy on Me was charted in Europe, so why aren't they in the singles list? Terneris, 23 February 2009.

Hey, --Rogerb67, if YOU THINK PROMO SONGS ARE NOT EVEN RLEASED OR CHARTED WHY IN THE WORLD IS EXPRESS LISTED AS A PROMO SONG THEN!!!??? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.154.96.141 (talk) 15:37, 3 February 2011 (UTC)

Sales correction

Stripped did NOT sell 14 Million. By mid 2004, it crossed the 10 Million mark. I highly doubt the album went on to sell another 4 million copies without any promo since early '04.

As for her self-titled, once again, it did NOT sell 16 Million. Last time I checked, it sold 13 Million.

Why can't obsessive fans just be happy with the real amounts? She's trampling her rivals, Beyonce & Britney, WITH OR WITHOUT inflated sales. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.12.116.200 (talk) June 24, 2006

The debut album and the Stripped album sold more than 16 / 12 copies worldwide respectively! Being proved by the Rolling Stone, The Coca-Cola Dome & the official site. Those numbers (12 / 10) are official too, but refers to the sales at the end of the released years!

Singles

Folks, I fixed the singles table. I'm kinda surprised it was allowed to stay in that condition... the columns were all messed up and out of line and it looked confusing. It now adheres to the Wikipedia Tables for Charts guideline in WP:MUSIC. I also stuck a citation tag in the worldwide sales column.... I didn't remove the numbers that were there, but I don't know where they came from. -- eo 12:57, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for fixing it I also dont know where they got the numbers but I think they have accurate sales for Ain't No Other Man because its similar to the amount said in the Global Chart. Again thanks for fixing it good job!!
Some people has written about singles sales worldwide, information is not true because they use mediatraffic.de as a reference (it's okay) BUT mediatraffic.de count airplay points + sales points (not only sales points) that's why I've deleted that information 201.134.127.27 03:52, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

This article has many mistakes. The part of the count of number one singles by country is WRONG, because for example in the United States, it says it has three #1 but she has 4 #1, they didn't count Lady Marmalade because is in "Other Singles", and that happens to all singles. This information is worng and it needd to be changed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.143.11.177 (talk) 00:45, 27 September 2008 (UTC)

First of all, I removed the world wide sales figures for the Christina Aguilera and Stripped albums. They were based on [this] article, which is a mirror of the wikipedia article you're looking at now. Also, I don't think we should use the the above figures either. Figures like these shouldn't be mentioned at all, unless they're from a reliable source (like the RIAA, for which unfortunately there is no international equivelant).Ζεύς 02:37, 2 January 2007 (UTC)
BUT, the worldwide sales wasn't added because of that rumored sales. The source that YOU removed has been deleted from "Today..." (a web site). When this reliable source still existed, it said:
  • Christina Aguilera: 18.5 million
  • Mi Reflejo: 5 million
  • Stripped: 12.5 million
and it's correct because her label (RCA) says that she has sold over 25 million worldwide in August, then we can say:
  • Christina Aguilera: 18.5 million
  • My Kind of Christmas: 3.5 million
  • Mi Reflejo: 5 million
  • Stripped: 12.5 million
  • TOTAL: 39.5 million Kraft. 05:37, 2 January 2007 (UTC)
Just to make things clear: I removed the sales figures because the [source] that was used for them was a mirror of this article on answers.com, not because they were based on the rumoured numbers metioned earlier. You'll have to agree that using an article as a source for itsself doesn't sound like a teribly good idea.
If you've found another (reliable) source, great! Make a proper citation for it, and add it to the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ζεύς (talkcontribs) January 1, 2007
No, that wasn't the source that I was talking about. It used to be this one: today.reuters.com but it doesn't exist anymore.
I found this: www.smh.com.au it says Christina Aguilera's self-titled album has sold 12 million. Kraft. 08:55, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

15 Songs For You

I added the '15 Songs For You' entry, CD cover and link as it is an internet phenomenon quantifiable by the linked torrent on the main page which has been downloaded nearly 200,000 times and this is just one of the many sources. There is an entry for a similar title 'Britney Spears - The Unreleased' on Wiki which has been up for a while without controversy.

Before just reverting can a few of us discuss the relevence of this album and if general opinion is it is not needed here then I'm happy to go along but one person reverting my effort seems unfair.

Interested in any comments.

I got reverted again by a non-registered user so I have again put my additions back. Once again, if any registered user cares to enter into a discussion as to why this non-official (but downloaded hundreds of thousands of times across the globe) does not belong in this section please do it here and the group can make an reasoned decision. Sales

Why does everyone keep putting the wrong sales for ALL of Christina Aguilera's albums? Stripped has sold over 4.1 million in the USA according to the Latest Bilboard Catalogue Chart and 10 million worldwide. Christina Aguilera has sold 8.1 million in the USA and 12.5 million worldwide. Back To Basics has sold 4 million worldwide. Why the FUCK is everyone changing these sales...they are INCORRECT! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nolesrunner (talkcontribs) July 25, 2007

"Stripped" has sold over nine million copies worldwide.
[ "Back to Basics" has sold 3,811,000 copies worldwide] Kraft. 05:33, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

The Figures that 'Stripped' has sold 4.1 in the US and 10 million worldwide is from the end of 2003/beginning of 2004. I absolutely know this, because the sales figures were consistently printed in billboard/rolling stone at that time. By 2008, 'Stripped' had sold over 13 million copies worldwide as documented by several sources, including her record company RCA. Her debut album, 'Christina Aguilera' had sold 8.1 million in the US and 12.5 million worldwide by the end of 2000. By 2010-2012 conflicting sources (rolling stone, billboard, etc) have reported worldwide sales/shipments of 'Christina Aguilera' between 17-21 million copies with 10 million being in the US. By 2008-2010 it was reported that 'Mi Reflejo' had worldwide sales/shipments of 5 million and 'My Kind of Christmas had worldwide sales/shipments of 6 million. By 2012, Back to Basics has been reported to have worldwide sales of 6 million copies. In 2010, it was reported that 'Keeps Getting Better: A Decade of Hits' had worldwide sales of approximately 1.5 million. In 2012, it was reported that 'Bionic' had worldwide sales of over 1 million and 'Burlesque: The Motion Picture Soundtrack' had worldwide sales of approximately 1.5 million. Also, it was reported that 'Just Be Free' had worldwide sales of over 500,000.... All of these figures are accurate. I hope this clears things up if anyone is wondering. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.137.132.60 (talk) 18:45, 18 May 2012 (UTC)

I'm not sure about this AskMen link being a reliable source, but what about the other sources? Mi Reflejo sales have 2 sources: The Washington Post (2007) & The New Zealand Herald (2006). Both would be reliable, but The Washington Post source is almost a year more recent. Also, this Billboard site (again, a reliable source) says My Kind of Christmas sold 3 million. Worldwide sales

According to the United World Chart Back to Basics has sold 3,654,000 to date, thet 7.5% actually doesn't exist due to there's no source that says it does.
Adding the alleged "missing" 7.5% to the Media Traffic figure is original research, because the 7.5% figure is an estimation that could vary from album to album (depending on how well each sells in the regions covered/not covered by Media Traffic). Original research is not allowed. Kraft. 01:23, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

I'm afraid you'll have to be more specific. www.unitedworldchart.com appears to be a domain for sale and does not have any charts data. www.unitedworldchart.de is a charts site, however I cannot see any information on counts of "worldwide number ones" on this site. Could you provide a working link to the page on which this information is? --Rogerb67 (talk) 22:13, 20 January 2009 (UTC)
I'm gonna give you #1 by #1 link:

Once again you have failed to indent (or sign) your response. Please do so in future.
That's no good; counting these amounts to a synthesis, and is not permitted. In any case, you have not demonstrated that this list is exhaustive, and Aguilera has not had other number ones on that chart. I am deleting the entry as uncited disputed material. Please do not add it in again without a reliable source that explicitly gives a count of worldwide number ones. Also the term "worldwide number ones" is vague - if you find a suitable reference I suggest you use a phrase such as "number ones in Media Traffic's United World Chart". --Rogerb67 (talk) 02:14, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

Spanish seperate from English

Why are the spannish works seperatred from the studio works? Were they not recorded in studios? Is it just because poeople don't want to have her less sucsessful album in the same table? At the moment it suggests that Spanish works are somehow lesser and not real albums, but simply novely recordings. I'm pretty sure this is not the artists belief, and the main charts in the US and UK don't do this seperation, why do we?Yobmod (talk) 10:12, 21 January 2009 (UTC)

Assuming the content of the albums is significantly different, I don't think the fact they are separated is the problem here; the problem is the titles used which do appear to me to be POV to me. How about "Studio Albums (English)" and "Studio Albums (Spanish)", perhaps with a short clarifying text before the table itself? --Rogerb67 (talk) 11:10, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
I agree with the names of the studio albums.. but adding the Spanish singles to the overall section just makes everything unclearly..especially because we don't know the peak positions of Aguilera's other singles for example in Chile, Mexico or Argentina! We usually just know the airplay positions! So I would leave 'em separately.Olliyeah (talk) 20:21, 21 January 2009 (UTC)

"Hurt" UK position

"Hurt" peaked ar #11 on the UK Singles Chart, not at #1 as somebody wrote on the article. So, it might be important to fix that mistake. Thank U!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.151.25.171 (talk) 22:48, 24 January 2009 (UTC)

Pop 100

I noticed that the Pop 100 Billboard Chart was included in Christina's singles discography which I like being included. I was curious, though, how there are positions listed in the column prior to 2005, since the Pop 100 is a songs chart that debuted in February 2005. It is impossible for there to be songs on that chart prior to "Ain't No Other Man."--Caponer (talk) 16:16, 23 May 2009 (UTC)

Just Be Free

I'm not trying to start anything - especially if this has been settled, but I noticed that Christian's demo album Just Be Free is not listed in her discography, even though there are discussion about it on here. Can I ask why it was agreed to be removed? Curious because I'm using Christina's discography as the precedent for another artist. Thanks Kyuu (talk) 06:34, 25 June 2009 (UTC)

It was never a studio album. Christina herself never had any intention of the album being released but the people she worked with on it released it to the public. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 125.238.96.175 (talk) 11:04, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

"Reflections" and "Just Be Free"

These were released as singles. "Just Be Free" was released in May 1997 (see Billboard's May 31, 1997 review of this in their Singles section, pg. 87). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.191.34.227 (talk) 06:07, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

Her actual sales!

Debut: 20 million. [[11]]

Stripped: 12 million.

B2B: 4.6 million.

Mi Reflejo: 5 million

My Kind of Christmas: 3 million

KGB: 857,000

Which brings her to *45 million* worldwide.

Anyone know how many singles she's sold?

And I predict her debuting week sales for her new album will be anywhere between 450-650K.

I agree with you on the sales of atleast around about 45 million worldwide.125.238.96.175 (talk) 11:11, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

Real Worldwide sales

According to her label:

Christina Aguilera- 13 million worldwide

Mi Reflejo- 1.6 million

My Kind of Christmas- 1.2 million

Stripped - 10 million

Back To Basics- 4.3 million

Keeps Getting Better- 800,000+

Just Be Free- 100,000+

  • Album sales: over 30 million
  • Single sales: over 13 million

Total Worldwide sales: over 43 million worldwideLAUGH90 (talk) 20:15, 18 February 2010 (UTC)

I'm sorry to disagree but this just doesn't make sense. At the end of 2000 it was revealed her debut album had sold over 8 million the USA alone, so I'm going to assume the other 5 million was worldwide sales? Ten years later I believe sales would have increased. As for singles it was believed she had sold 37 million singles plus albums by the end of 2000 so take of the 13 and thats 24 million singles of that album by the end of 2000.125.238.96.175 (talk) 11:09, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

"Woo-hoo" as a single

I noticed that Woo-hoo has been removed from the singles listings. This has been done in error, as Woo-hoo was, in fact, actively promoted and officially sent to Rhythmic radio stations in the U.S., thus making it a single. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.251.248.81 (talk) 01:17, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

I noticed an error in the charting of Woo Hoo. The chart positions for the UK and Canada are mixed up. The Canadian chart should be # 46 and the UK chart should be # 148. Currently they are the other way around. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.158.85.137 (talk) 14:53, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

Give WooHoo a "D" in top right hand corner

If it has a "D" in the top right hand corner of the title of the song in the singles section it will show it was released in North America only as a single. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 125.238.96.26 (talk) 20:07, 29 July 2010 (UTC)

Orphaned references in Christina Aguilera discography

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Christina Aguilera discography's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.
