Not the first science Nobellist born in an Arab country.

[edit]

The article says that Cohen-Tannoudji was the first science Nobel prize winner born in an Arab country [in 1997]. This is not true since Dorothy Hodgkin who won the chemistry Nobel in 1964 was born in Cairo (Egypt) to British parents. There are several ways to reword the sentence which make it true; I think the simplest is to change "science" to "physics". Dirac66 (talk) 20:12, 31 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Even so, this is not correct. Abdus Salam (Nobel 1979) was born in the part of British India which is current Pakistan. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 139.165.31.13 (talk) 10:29, 4 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

But Pakistan is not an Arab country - see list of Arab states. It is a predominantly Muslim country (so yes, Salam was a Muslim physics Nobelist before 1997), but the language spoken in Pakistan is not Arabic. So the statement in this article (before the mention of Salam was inserted) still seems to be correct, unless someone finds another counter-example. Dirac66 (talk) 18:21, 1 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
