COI

[edit]

Gingerjuice is a social media company which according to its own website has Coats as a client. [1]. Logical Cowboy (talk) 23:13, 8 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello - I see page is currently not displaying due to copyright issues - I am an employee at Coats and happy to try and get appropriate permissions in place. Just not clear on how best to do this - apologies if I'm not understanding instructions clearly enough - all assistance gratefully received. Thanks Obzie12 09:57, 11 February 2015 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Obzie12 (talkcontribs)

Thank you for declaring your conflict of interest, Obzie12. As you know, conflict-of-interest editors are strongly discouraged from editing the article directly, but are always welcome to suggest improvements here, on the talk page. I don't believe that a release of the company's publicity materials would serve any useful purpose, as their tone is promotional rather than encyclopaedic; our content here is based on what is reported in independent reliable sources, not on advertising copy. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 11:33, 11 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello - appreciate the point re COI and any contributions I make now but just to come back to you on the copyright issue - currently the link http://www.coats.com/index.asp?pageid=214&newsid=13 is flagged as a potential copyright issue - the article talks about Coats Land and proximity to recently renamed Queen Elizabeth Land - does the following link count as reliable source, that does not copyright infringe? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_Elizabeth_Land - apologies if I am missing the point here Thanks Obzie12 11:32, 24 February 2015 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Obzie12 (talkcontribs)

No, Obzie12, Wikipedia cannot be a reference for itself - please see WP:CIRCULAR. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 16:16, 3 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello - as you have deemed me to have COI I am updating this page with 2 recommended edits that are relevant and independently sourced. 1) Coats plc is no longer owned by Guinness Peat Group but on 26 February replaced GPG as the listed entity on the London Stock Exchange http://www.londonstockexchange.com/exchange/news/market-news/market-news-detail/12262717.html 2) Coats also announced year end results for 2014 - Revenue was $1,686m http://www.londonstockexchange.com/exchange/news/market-news/market-news-detail/12262105.html - Thank you for your consideration Obzie12 11:52, 24 March 2015 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Obzie12 (talkcontribs)

Proposed merge with Coats Group

[edit]

Guinness Peat has changed its name to Coats Group, no need for two pages on the same company. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 12:49, 1 May 2015 (UTC) Hello - acknowledge I have a COI - but in response to your proposal to merge pages, agree it would make sense but to recommend that as Coats plc is the more active, detailed and long standing page it should remain. Any reference to Coats Group plc could be folded into here. Up until 2013 Coats was only ever a small part of Guinness Peat Group investment portfolio http://www.gpgplc.com/accounts/accounts/GPG_Finance-AR-2002.pdf Thanks Obzie12 14:31, 26 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Both Guinness Peat and Coats have long histories and following the precedent of BICC / Balfour Beatty it makes sense to keep them separate. Dormskirk (talk) 22:34, 25 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Fine

[edit]

An editor has twice removed a section on the fine of €110 million imposed on the company by the European Commission for participation in cartels: the editor says it is irrelevant. In my view a fine of this significance is highly relevant. Dormskirk (talk) 21:34, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello - I do have a connection with Coats, I work there. I apologize, I didn't know it was not recommended for employees to edit the page directly. In that case I will make the edit suggestions on the article talk page from now on.
Is it possible to add this before Texon and Rhenoflex acquisition references?:
"In 2019, Coats launches Coats Digital."
And also, add these links to Texon and Rhenoflex mentions?:
https://www.texon.com/
https://rhenoflex.de/en
Thanks in advance. Cronoscuervo (talk) 15:00, 11 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Also, how can this flag be removed?

Cronoscuervo (talk) 15:03, 11 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi - I have added your disclosure at the top of this page - thanks. I will remove the conflict of interest tag. The links to Coats Digital, Texon and Rhenoflex shown above are not independent and therefore cannot be used as citations. If you are proposing any more changes, please use the Edit Request template. Thanks, Dormskirk (talk) 15:40, 11 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
