Is this a TCU by definition?

[edit]
TCU?

Definately convection, TCU is only thing I can think of calling it. Was taken on a flight from ABQ to PHX at 26000 MSL at about noon, so later in the day, I can only imagine it becomes a CB? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kvuo (talkcontribs) 03:10, August 30, 2007 (UTC) oops --Kvuo 03:14, 30 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

precipitation?

[edit]

I assume that cumulus congestus clouds sometimes produce precipitation? I would think that, except in tropical regions, the cloud would become a cumulonimbus before producing heavy precipitation but I could be wrong. 69.140.152.55 (talk) 07:20, 15 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I've seen precipitation fall from the cumulus congestus on many occasions in Britain- sometimes the resulting showers can be heavy. Tws45 (talk) 00:39, 9 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Name

[edit]

What does the name congestus mean? --The High Fin Sperm Whale (talk) 00:53, 15 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This site says means brought together. Bidgee (talk) 03:18, 15 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

This picture shows a well developed cumulonimbus with a flanking line (see comments in commons). It needs to be replaced by another picture that is more realistic. Malosse (talk) 13:35, 8 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
