Born in Algiers, France?!

[edit]

Auteuil was indeed born in Algiers, but Algiers is not in France, as the article claims, but in Algeria. This needs amending and expanding with some information on his parentage (French?). Lumet (talk) 18:47, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Filmography needs Marius and Fanny

[edit]

Two of Auteuil's 2013 films, Marius and Fanny, are missing from his filmography. He directed and acted in both. They are adaptations of playwright Marcel Pagnol's Marius, Fanny, and Cesar trilogy from the 1930s. Auteuil's adaptation of Cesar is expected out in 2015. Critic review here. I have little experience editing and am not comfortable editing a table right now. FWIW, Pagnol's trilogy was adapted to film in the 30s (each one with different directors, including Pagnol) and there are pages for the 30s Marius and Fanny films, but not the 2013 versions. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Meta Self (talkcontribs) 01:06, 26 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Pronunciation of his name

[edit]

Surely the correct IPA pronunciation of his surname is [otœj], not [otøj]? I don't think [øj] is a recognised sound in French.188.230.248.85 (talk) 14:33, 10 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I should have been inclined to agree, but I observe that at least some people are pronouncing the name of the locality in south-western Paris with the closer sound and so not in the same way as the word oeil. See Wiktionnaire entry. However, I do not know how the man himself says his name. LynwoodF (talk) 10:42, 9 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
A quick update: The Wiktionnaire entry has now been changed. LynwoodF (talk) 10:44, 11 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
