"arbitrary definition"

The articles says in several places that certain definitions are "arbitrary". All definitions are arbitrary. That is one of their core properties. Definitions cannot be true or false, and they are not subject to empirical scrutiny. Definitions can be more or less useful. Maybe this is what is intended here?

In any case, the lede of the article should present a short overview of different positions regarding its topic. The contextualization (who uses which definition why) can be done later. Apparently, Ambiguous genitalia and atypical genitalia are criteria which are used by some. A full list of criteria should be given first. This list can later be complemented by frequency information.

There are further stylistic issues in the article, but I would first focus on the lede Jasy jatere (talk) 14:14, 17 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Badly worded definition

I couldn't make sense of this paragraph, because of the way the definition is framed:

"There can also be a stricter definition, specifically for ambiguous DSD. This definition is restricted to those conditions in which typical chromosomal categorization patterns is inconsistent with phenotypic sex, or in which the phenotype is not easily classifiable as either male or female," with the prevalence of about 0.018%."

Does it mean:

"There is a stricter category, known as ambiguous DSD. It consists of conditions in which the phenotype is not easily classifiable as either male or female, or the phenotypic sex is inconsistent with the chromosomal categorization, with a prevalence of about 0.018%."

Note that I did not change the definition itself.
