Schematic[edit]

That is not the correct schematic symbol for a resistor! John Alan Elson WF6I A.P.O.I. 14:06, 12 October 2014 (UTC)

Travis FM detector[edit]

How does a Travis FM detector work?Cuddlyable3 03:48, 18 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Is there any difference between a detector and a demodulator?[edit]

It doesn't seem so, but the article doesn't explicitly state this.

In the early days of radio when only morse was transmitted by on/off transmission, a receiver needed to be only a detector of electromagnetic radiation. Later, more advanced ways of modulating in a transmitter were introduced, such as AM and FM for transmitting voice, so receivers then needed to incorporate a corresponding type of demodulator. The term "detector" is still seen used for circuits that actually do more than just detect, for the historical reason given.Cuddlyable3 07:18, 2 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Slope detection[edit]

Which one of these FM detectors is a slope detector? If none, can we add something about slope detectors? 4.242.147.75 (talk) 21:07, 20 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

(This is 4.242) Never mind, I see the blurb on slope detection now. It was kind of hard to notice, buried there in the introduction/transition from AM to FM. Flayked (talk) 03:15, 21 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Quadrature Detector[edit]

It seems that this article explains the quadrature detector as being an FM detector yet it can in fact be used for other modes including AM, CW, AFSK, etc. I suggest some revision to expand to other uses besides just FM.

I agree. Be bold and edit! Improve the sentence below that omits to mention that the FM signal needs to be DC biased to the midpoint of the XOR gate's input voltage thresholds for "0" and "1".
The XOR gate produces an output pulse whose duration equals the difference between the times at which the square wave and the received FM signal pass through zero volts. Cuddlyable3 (talk) 22:02, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
