Location Image

[edit]

Location is not loading properly, I believe this is due to the image of the coat of arms not being of the same size as the location image, weird I know, but that seems to be what is happening... at least in my browser (Camino v1.0)

Please introduce the Infobox German Location. It provides a coherent look among German cities. Lear 21 22:59, 25 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Put Germany towns map

[edit]

14-Sep-2007: I haved added a quick map of Germany (extended from the CIA map), to show Dortmund nearby other towns. Most maps out there are not readable in a wiki article, due to tiny lettering. An entire map-subculture has grown around blank, jigsaw ink-blot maps showing an unlabeled region with a shaded jigsaw area. In fact, readable maps are so rare in WP, they almost seem magical: the trick is font-size, with 1-pixel thickness for EACH 250px of map width, when full-size. As a map is down-scaled, the lettering tends to blur; however, a 750px map can be scaled to 250px as readable, when lettering has 3-pixel thickness. Shaded lettering could also appear visible with a similar 2-pixel + gray-pixel shading. However, map labels of 1-pixel thickness are almost always invisible when resized onto a WP article page. To improve map readability, label the towns with wider fonts, as 2-pixel thickness or more. -Wikid77 04:09, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Adding Information From German Wikipedia.

[edit]

I was thinking that adding information from the German Wikipedia article on Dortmund would be a good idea. (comment by unregistered user) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.232.5.102 (talk) 04:15, 6 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Steel milling?? Steelmaking, maybe?

[edit]

Steel milling (or better, "milling of steel"), is a machining operation ("fräsen"); I think what you mean is "steelmaking"; the whole plant is (sometimes) called a steel mill, but, sorry, no one ever talks about "steel milling"! Maelli (talk) 11:19, 17 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A Google search for "Steel milling" produces 89,800 hits. See, for example, http://www.sandvik.coromant.com/en-gb/knowledge/milling/getting_started/milling_different_materials/steel_milling/pages/default.aspx, http://www.atprecision.com/machining/materials/steel-milling.php, http://grandcasting.en.alibaba.com/product/296805604-209906821/stainless_steel_milling_parts.html, http://www.emachineshop.com/machine-shop/plugins/forum/ver3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=206, etc etc. "Steel making" refers to the whole process of steel manufacture, whereas steel milling is just one part of that process. Steel is run through a rolling mill to create sheet steel, and so this is perhaps what was meant. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.148.220.15 (talk) 16:10, 15 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

230% of buildings destroyed!

[edit]

In the introduction I read: "The devastating bombing raids of 12 March 1945 destroyed 230% of buildings in the inner city center". I don't know the real percentage of destructed buildings, but certainly it cannot be more than 100%! Please, correct. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.206.121.184 (talk) 09:25, 28 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
