• Since this isn't an official guideline but rather just an essay I happen to agree with, feel free to ignore this, but I prefer "was student government president" to "served as student body president" (the essay is at WP:SERVED)

• "initially planning to major in journalism but opting for theatre" → sounds a touch like there's a word missing, maybe "but ultimately opting" or "but opting for theatre instead", something like that
