Reverted move to Ed Robertson (musician)
[edit]@Amsgearing: – I reverted your move to Ed Robertson (musician). While I appreciate your being WP:BOLD, the move broke some 140 links listed in Special:Whatlinkshere/Ed Robertson, directing them to a disambiguation page. Please take note at instructions given in Wikipedia:Moving a page#Post-move cleanup, particularly WP:UPT If you do decide to boldly usurp a title, it is strongly recommended that you modify all pages that link to the old title so they will link to the new title.
While the argument that the musician might not be the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for "Ed Robertson" and thus ambiguous with other persons listed at Edward Robertson (disambiguation) is plausible prima facie, please open a formal WP:Requested move so that a broader consensus can be reached. Thanks. No such user (talk) 11:27, 16 May 2018 (UTC)
- okay, No such user, I can see that would be a problem. Going forward, are you saying the move would be acceptable if I changed the 140 links to point to the new page? Amsgearing (talk) 13:01, 16 May 2018 (UTC)
- @Amsgearing: Please just open a RM request; there is no hurry. I don't have a strong opinion either way, but I find the move controversial, and it would benefit from a broader and formal consensus. No such user (talk) 15:04, 16 May 2018 (UTC)
- Ok sounds good. Amsgearing (talk) 15:15, 16 May 2018 (UTC)

Ed Robertson → Ed Robertson (musician) – Ed Robertson is a fairly common name and I feel that Ed Robertson should redirect to the Edward Robertson disambiguation page. I will take on the task of redirecting the links on other pages that currently point to Ed Robertson the musician. Thank you Amsgearing (talk) 15:27, 16 May 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose. Sole such main title header among Wikepedia articles, thus making the redirect unwarranted. In addition to the entry for Ed Robertson, the Edward Robertson disambiguation page has just had another standalone entry added — Eddie Robertson. Three other RMs, which focus upon nullifying this type of redirect, are currently active: Talk:Bill Fuller (footballer)#Requested move 8 May 2018, Talk:Tommy Corcoran (baseball)#Requested move 9 May 2018 and Talk:Jessica Phillips (cyclist)#Requested move 14 May 2018. Hatnotes directing users to the respective disambiguation pages are sufficient in resolving any uncertainty. Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 17:12, 16 May 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose. In addition to what Roman Spinner noted above, every other page on the Edward Robertson DAB has a daily average view count of 3 or lower. Meanwhile, this page's average is 413. There is no evidence that people typing in Ed Robertson do not want the Barenaked Ladies guy, so there is no compelling reason to disambiguate the page. Nohomersryan (talk) 19:23, 16 May 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose. The Canadian musician is the only person on the Edward Robertson disambiguation page who is generally referred to as "Ed" — everybody else is either "Eddie" or "Edward" — so there's no ambiguity here. Bearcat (talk)
