I'd like to see another source referenced for the number and size of torpedo tubes on this ship. I have two primary sources offering differing data, perhaps due to their disparate dates: 1891 Annual Report of the Torpedo School indicates that they had two 14-in overhead, dirigible tubes, which would have been above water. The Torpedo Manual 1909 Volume 3 says this class had two 18-in submerged broadside tubes forward. My guess is that the 14-in tubes were obsoleted at some point or failed to prove reliable, but for 18-in tubes I think the nature of the Torpedo Manual is such that it suggests it is correct.
