Old talk

[edit]

Why is Chris Ryerson listed in the personal section? Seems like someone probably added themselves. The URL citation is dead, this should probably get removed. Max.inglis (talk) 16:58, 17 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Image deletion

[edit]

The congregation highlighted in the article ("A stained glass window honours Ryerson") wishes to have the image removed. Mkooiman (talk) 11:18, 19 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

On what grounds? The image is free and relates to his time working for the church. Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 14:09, 19 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Obviously, public perception of the image has changed since it was first posted in 2009. The congregation does not need to justify this decision to you. Mkooiman (talk) 03:06, 20 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
And? It's a free image so 'the congregation' has no say in what photo can and cannot be on Wikipedia since it was not taken by them. If you want to have a discussion about how you believe the image does not relate to the article, that can be had, but just saying WP:IDONTLIKEIT won't get your point across. Hey all, this article has been subject to substantial and repeated edits that intend to dispute Ryerson's involvement with the Canadian residential school system, following the media controversy in 2021. I'm new to wikipedia editing and am not entirely sure how best to address this issue. Punkyfunkmonk (talk) 21:06, 2 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

What specific statements are you objecting to? Alaney2k (talk) 05:26, 16 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I have edited extensively to try to make it NPOV. It seems clear that the govt of Canada took his basic ideas but followed up with measures to extinguish indigenous culture. Alaney2k (talk) 17:34, 16 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
