Untitled[edit]

What an awful picture of Ethel Skakel. She is tertiary to George Bush and Robert Kennedy in this photo.

If you have a better picture free of copyright to upload, then, by all means, do so. Otherwise, it's pointless to complain. Daphoenyx (talk) 15:43, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Loyalty?[edit]

Why does Roger Mudd owe her family any "loyalty"? Achilles2006 16:18, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Photo?[edit]

There is no photo of Ethel Kennedy here. Aren't any available? ==Ancestry.Isn't she of Dutch and Irish ancestry?

Catholicism[edit]

Two references to Ethel's Catholicism in the article seem puzzling and should therefore perhaps be regarded skeptically. One statement suggests that her Catholicism supports her alleged opposition to the teaching of evolution, when the Catholic Church does not oppose, and has not recently opposed, the teaching of evolution. The other statement implies that Catholicism forbids a widow to remarry, which is certainly not the case. Either Mrs. Kennedy misunderstands her own faith, or the assertions in the article are misleading or inaccurate.

I agree with the above point. The fact that she has opposed the teaching of the Theory of Evolution can stay in but the 'due to her strict Catholicism' bit should be removed in my opinion as it is at best misleading. Nicander (talk) 14:13, 6 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Place of birth[edit]

It is stated in the article text that she was born in Crack, Iowa, while in the right page chart it's written Chicago, Illinois... Anyone who can clear this up? Daphoenyx (talk) 15:40, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Photos[edit]

At the risk of upsetting the editor who placed it there, I removed a recent color photo of Ethel Kennedy from this article. The article itself is not that big, and it is my opinion that too many photos overwhelm the article. If the article was a little larger and had an appropriate place for another newer photo of her, it could be placed in the article again. Of course, some may disagree with me. Would be more than willing to see some comments on this. Lhb1239 (talk) 00:27, 17 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

How/when she and her husband met[edit]

"Ethel met Robert F. Kennedy during a ski trip to Mont Tremblant Resort in Quebec, Canada during the winter of 1945." This seems to contradict the account in Evan Thomas's book (referenced in note 7) which seems to indicate they met when she was a volunteer for John F. Kennedy's congressional campaign (p. 56; Jean Kennedy, her college roommate had brought her along in spring of 1946.) 173.17.26.178 (talk) 02:12, 7 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Bobby/Robert[edit]

The article as currently written refers to her husband as "Bobby," which seems inappropriate. This would imply the anonymous author(s) knew him personally, which is unlikely, and it does not read like an encyclopedia should. Thus, I am changing the name to Robert throughout.Catherinejarvis (talk) 18:24, 9 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ethel Kennedy was born in Havana Cuba 174.201.5.115 (talk) 13:49, 2 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Not done. It's not clear what changes you want to make. –Deacon Vorbis (carbon • videos) 14:36, 2 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The IP is giving a blatantly false birth place for Ethel. Don't implement Havana. SNUGGUMS (talk / edits) 16:47, 2 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

parenting[edit]

In the section titled "Children," I am going to remove three sentences about the media's opinion of her parenting style, which seem pointless and derogatory. Mrs. Kennedy is a private citizen never elected to anything, and what strangers think of her parenting is not relevant.Princetoniac (talk) 21:59, 5 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Princetoniac: The content is well referenced and completly valid. Your taking a completly arbitary viewpoint and basing your decision on that, not what is in the sources. scope_creepTalk 00:07, 6 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Princetoniac is correct. Whether the content is "referenced" doesn't matter. Mrs. Kennedy has been a private citizen for the last fifty years and opinions of her private life are not appropriate for this article. The content should be removed under biography of living persons policy. Wherewithall (talk) 08:52, 2 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
