Swedes/other groups in Chicago

[edit]

Has anyone considered creating a Swedes in Chicago page? Also, what other groups have been left out that someone might consider including in such a page?

Arab and Middle Eastern Americans

[edit]

I am having trouble reconciling these two statements:

As of 2006, there are about 8,500 Arabs in the Chicago metropolitan area, with most of them being Palestinian.

and

In 1995 there were 85,000 persons of Palestinian origin in the Chicago area, making up about 60% of the Arab Americans there

That's a discrepancy of 1,667%.

Moreover, other sources present numbers significantly different from both.

WBEZ states:

Today, more Palestinians live in Cook County than any other county in the nation, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. More than 18,000 Palestinians live in Cook County, and more than 23,000 live in the Chicago metropolitan area, which includes 14 counties in Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin.

Arab America states:

Reports of the population of Arab Americans in Chicago range from 50,000 to 160,000 based on Ancestry Reported Census 2000 and Zogby International Estimates. However estimates have gone as high as 220,000 according to the Arab-American Institute and 170,000 in the city of Chicago itself.

Et cetera.
