Faizabad Junction railway station → Ayodhya Cantt railway station – WP:COMMONNAME, proposed title has almost double result with quotes on google. Yes I am aware of this notice, but I think it applies to only city and district name because airport's page name is changed in past see Ayodhya Airport. Oppose @JaiHind108, The source never says it is the official name. As of now it is the name proposed by the CM on a tweet. Once Railway board approves and the station board are changed with new painted name, then we can call it official. Not now. A mention of announcement is already added. @Venkat TL I think you haven't read WP:COMMONNAME, it talks about common name, not official name. first of all it is official, yesterday i personally went to somewhere i saw trains for Ayodhya cantt not Faizabad junction, i know it doesn't count, but still, secondly if it is not official even then this discussion is about WP:COMMONNAME not official name. @Oculi please check my User contributions for JaiHind108 and check if i have done any edit except this to change "faizabad" to "ayodhya". One more thing, let us suppose for second that i have interest in changing "faizabad" to "ayodhya" but i dont think this can be the reason to oppose this RM, if you agree with my given arguments above then support this move, if not then please specify reason and then oppose, and last thing that i have similar same with some blocked user, so what, what do you want to say, please be a little more clear/specific??? thank you JaiHind108 (talk) 04:41, 26 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please change the title name as Ayodhya Cantt railway station[edit]

Sir, Faizabad Jn. railway station name changed as Ayodhya Cantt railway station on 2nd November 2021. Sir, Ayodhya Cantt railway station is situated in Faizabad, Ayodhya district. Please change the title name of this page as Ayodhya Cantt railway station. It will be helpful for passengers and there will not be any confusion. By the way sir, indian railways are printing ticket with Ayodhya Cantt (AYC) name now. That's why I am requesting to change the title name as Ayodhya Cantt railway station. Thank you. Yes, Ayodhya Cantt railway station is now common name of this railway station. On the newspapers, Newschannels, everywhere this railway station is known as Ayodhya Cantt railway station. Earlier Wikipedia has changed the names of many railway stations, such as Prayagraj Junction which was earlier known as Allahabad Junction. Searches in Google and Google news show far more hits for Faizabad Junction railway station than Ayodhya Cantt railway station. There is a BJP-led push to extinguish the name Faizabad in favour of the nearby city of Ayodhya (the place where fanatic vandals destroyed a mosque in 1992). Please fix official name[edit]

Here the official name of railway station is written as Ayodhya Cantt railway station. But it is wrong information. Actually the official and correct name of this railway station is "Ayodhya Cantt Junction railway station". I request to add Junction word also in the official name of this railway station. I love my old Faizabad town. Please dont change the name of Faizabad district as Ayodhya district now. But in recent 10 to 11 months i have seen that Ayodhya Cantt Junction is very much popular name and it is became common name as well. I am not any supporter of Ayodhya, i support Faizabad always. But due to its popularity and common name, i think Ayodhya Cantt Junction railway is correct name for this Wikipedia page title name. I repeated Fylindfotberserk's Google News searches for 1 November 2021 to 1 July 2023 just now with the addition of a search for the new name, and the results were as follows:
Sometimes Google produces different numbers because Google changes its behaviour or its databases.
Only one of five links provided by the proposer is evidence of the station being called "Ayodhya Cantt railway station" in English. Two of the links are to articles about other railway stations, and two of the links are to articles that are not in English.

I also considered the evidence they presented as to the common name in use, which was stronger than your bare assertion. then whatever consensus is reached should be acceptable to all - That's not what consensus on Wikipedia is - it should be acceptable to most, especially in cases like this where it's obvious that you and the opposer in the previous RM are working from principles sufficiently incompatible that you have no hope of reaching agreement.
