Reception Addition

Concerns have also been raised about the impact that playing a game involving repeated gun violence may have on young children. [42]

I would like to make changes to this article about the updates Epic Games has made and how it was actually released in 2011 (Save the World) and Battle Royale was released in 2017. If you would give me permission to edit this at all I would appreciate it because I can help give people the right information. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.232.162.118 (talk) 13:13, 31 October 2018 (UTC)

Given this is false into (StW was not released until 2017), there is no reason to make these changes. --Masem (t) 13:43, 31 October 2018 (UTC)

Is this two games or one game with two play modes?

The article seems not to be in two minds about it. Once it speaks about two games, ones about a single game with two modes. It would probably be good to make it consistent or include an appropriate description of the difference between Save the World and Battle Royale. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 134.76.223.2 (talk) 12:35, 22 November 2018 (UTC)

You Can't. Stop Asking.

Four days and ten constructive edits on a Wikipedia account. Then you may edit. Quite frankly, I dont want these people editing at all.. Most people who leave requests to be allowed to edit probably couldn't even spell grammar.. That was a tad rude. Either way, you may leave a request for an edit to be made. Here is an example of how you might phrase it.

Please change "Johnny boi is my gay bby lams forever <3" to "Letters between Alexander Hamilton and John Laurens suggest that the latter might have been a homosexual."

You must also add a citation for claims requiring evidence. A good citation for our example might be one of the mentioned letters.

Thank you for not spamming the Fornite talk page (Or any other talk pages for that matter) with requests to edit protected pages.

Adding various versions of FNBR to the page.

Does it not seem correct that we chart the various versions of FNBR to what is added to the version? It would help to give an accurate history of what happened or what changed in whatever season or update. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 73.82.128.95 (talk) 14:24, 28 March 2019 (UTC)

Season by season changes for the Battle Royale mode are discussed on the FBR page, mostly because those seasons get mass coverage when they happen. While the STW mode does have seasonal events, these rarely get covered so it does not make sense to track them on the STW page. --Masem (t) 14:47, 28 March 2019 (UTC)

Still think we should add a version history timeline.

It makes sense to do this because it legitimately helps to track the various versions of FNBR. This gives article readers a clear idea of what happened when, which is not displayed on the Epic Games website. -An FNBR fanatic — Preceding unsigned comment added by 73.82.128.95 (talk) 17:29, 28 March 2019 (UTC)

First, we're not a gameguide - tracking the smaller changes (like adding a new weapon or vehicle) is well beyond the scope of WP. We can track the larger changes like the seasons as we do already at Fortnite Battle Royale, but that doesn't affect the other two modes. --Masem (t) 17:35, 28 March 2019 (UTC)

Lawsuit of Addiction

A section "Addictivity" and/or "Lawsuit" should be inserted in the main article.

A lawsuit, seeking class-action, against the game editor Epic Game accuses the makers of Fortnite of intentionally designing it to be addictive. Following this lawsuit, the game wouldbe "as addictive as cocaine". This lawsuit is alined to lawsuits against drugs or tobacco or to the decision of World Health Organization classifiing video game addiction, as an actual disease.

Source : Lawsuit Says 'Fortnite' Intentionally Designed To Be As Addictive As Cocaine, Ruin Lives — Preceding unsigned comment added by Xavdr (talkcontribs) 04:29, 11 October 2019 (UTC)

It is mentioned on Fortnite Battle Royale since that's the game that's been targeted for addiction. --Masem (t) 04:34, 11 October 2019 (UTC)

Final Moments

On October 13, 2019, an event meant to take place as an introduction to Season 11, however what ended up happening is that various missiles tied with the storyline ended up blowing up a rift at Loot Lake. The explosion mixed with the rift caused a black hole to appear in the world, causing the player and everything in the map to be sucked in. What followed was a void in player’s screens, indicating that there was simply nothing to be seen in the world. This caused fans across the world to be shocked, as they were excited for a new season, which instead ended the game completely. Nygamer2006 (talk) 22:49, 13 October 2019 (UTC)

Covered on Fortnite BR, and we'll wait to see what the end result is. Clearly all planned on Epic's side. --Masem (t) 23:04, 13 October 2019 (UTC)

I'm not sure where this would go. Possibly under "reception"? ~Anachronist (talk) 02:04, 9 April 2020 (UTC)

Those are all tied to the Battle Royale game and you can find them listed there. --Masem (t) 02:09, 9 April 2020 (UTC)

Should it go under "Reception"? I agree with Anachronist. Globbett (talk) 14:37, 23 June 2020 (UTC)

Again, under Reception right now, a brief mention about issues with the addictive nature of the Battle Royale is mentioned, and there is a link to the Reception section for the BR game in that section lead. It is only the BR part of the game that is being targetting, not the other game modes. --Masem (t) 15:34, 23 June 2020 (UTC)

Dates and the transition out of early access

I know that normally we give more weight to when a game is out of early access, but for Fortnite using the "release" dates gives very much the wrong impression to got by the claimed "v1.0" dates. StW (early access) was first, BR was built as a test mode off that and became huge, and thus was the more dominate game, and only now they're making a shift to basically say we're done with any major StW development, and aligning everything else like BR to say there's no more early around anything Fortnite now. That doesn't change that for three years this game was in early access and most gamers knew of BR was built off StW. It is wrong to try to impress that BR was "released" first, just because when the early access dates are stripped out, BR suddenly seems to become first. --Masem (t) 21:10, 1 July 2020 (UTC)

Addition of Player/Community feedback history?

I feel like every videogame article should have a section that could be called "Player feedback History", or "Community Feedback History" or just "Community Feedback". It could be called anything else but I felt like that could be added due to the OG players current feel of the game in 2020 compared to it's hype and good feedback back in 2017 - late 2018. Is there chance that we can excerpt about addictive nature of the game in "Reception" section? Fortunny (talk) 22:48, 21 January 2021 (UTC)

There is already discussion of this on the Fortnite Battle Royale page where this is more the issue. The matter is less a problem for the other game modes. --Masem (t) 22:51, 21 January 2021 (UTC)
Why media blames Battle Royale mode for its addictive properites rather than the whole game? Some people have become addicted to other modes. I think that the problem is that everything popular seems too addictive and good to the outsiders. Fortunny (talk) 23:01, 21 January 2021 (UTC)

In the US they use the study for a legal action against Epic. [3]

I think that's an important topic for the article.

Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by SGW-WETG (talkcontribs) 09:41, 14 February 2021 (UTC)

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. – Jonesey95 (talk) 16:06, 24 February 2021 (UTC)
Re-opened request. @Jonesey95: This isn't a "change X to Y" thing; that boilerplate response was inappropriate. It is a request to add a short paragraph about a scholarly study about Fortnite that was cited in legal action against Fortnite. It is a legitimate edit request with valid sources, even if the wording isn't polished. Had those words and sources been added directly to the article, they would likely have been cleaned up rather than reverted. I don't have the time right now (it's late here, and I'm sleepy), and if you don't either, then leave this open for someone who does. ~Anachronist (talk) 05:57, 25 February 2021 (UTC)
@Anachronist: please read the policy on edit requests. "Any edit request must be accompanied by a detailed and specific description of what changes need to be made." from Wikipedia:Edit requests. Elliot321 (talk | contribs) 18:00, 26 February 2021 (UTC)
I am well aware of that. This is clearly a request to add information, not "change X to Y". Sentences were provided. Citations were provided. The request fulfilled the requirements. ~Anachronist (talk) 19:51, 26 February 2021 (UTC)
Agreed that the boilerplate response in total was a bit of a stretch; however, the important part was the beginning, "it's not clear what changes you want to be made." The requestor has made two edits to Wikipedia, both concerning this subject. Those of us who, like Jonesey95, have been answering these requests for a long time require that there be a "detailed and specific description" of the requested changes, so we don't have to go back and make several edits to get it right. So perhaps the more detailed and specific response would be:
Not done for now: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please give specific details as to the wording, the position in the article and anything else that will help us make this edit for you exactly as you would add it if you could do it yourself. Thank you for your input! P.I. Ellsworth  ed. put'r there 03:04, 27 February 2021 (UTC)
I am sorry! I didn't know that. My request is about adding 1-2 short sentences about the study and the legal action. For example: "A study by two economists from the European University Viadrina examined the business model patterns of Fortnite and came to the conclusion, that the underlying business model patterns are highly relevant for other video games. At the beginning of 2021, a lawsuit was filed against Epic Games in the U.S. based on the study, as the methods present in Fortnite, especially those of the in-game store, would manipulate children."
Position: Reception. After the sentence: "Concerns have also been raised about the impact that playing a game involving repeated depictions of gun violence may have on young children."

For purposes of how things are organized, these fit better on the Battle Royale page (where more deeper discussion of the concerns are raised). Both pieces of information have been added there. --Masem (t) 19:56, 3 March 2021 (UTC)

Confusion about date of release!

When was Fortnite actually released? July 21, or July 25, 2017? I'm confused. Because right here on this google search I made, it says July 25. But in small text in the little google infobox, it says July 21. I'm looking for a reliable source, but the some of those websites dose not have the exact release date of the game series, just the chapters and seasons. I kinda wish editors would be it more specific about their edits, just saying. Xfhxzf (talk) 06:53, 5 June 2021 (UTC)

As explained more at Fortnite: Save the World: "Leading up to this free-to-play release, the game was offered as a paid early access period starting on July 25, 2017 for all platforms; players who pre-ordered Founder's Packs were granted access to the game on July 21". We stay with "public availability" for widespread release dates so we're using the 25th but we are noting the 21st for pre-orders. --Masem (t) 13:15, 5 June 2021 (UTC)

Tilted Towers page

Now that it's been 4 years I think it's safe to say the POI "Tilted Towers" had a level of notability far beyond Fortnite and deserves its own page, the page should describe its reputation and prominance in Chapter 1.

I have created a draft (With a lack of sources). Combing through sources from round 2018-2019 is going to be a doozy so I'd like to kindly request help. at Draft:Tilted Towers

June Parker (talk) 16:06, 28 March 2022 (UTC)

This page is to discuss improvements to the Fortnite article and is not a place to advertise your draft. Also since it is a location in a popular video game with little coverage beyond the game itself, I highly doubt I could ever be accepted as an article. CollectiveSolidarity (talk) 17:46, 9 April 2022 (UTC)
Where would you have me draw attention to my draft, then? June Parker (talk) 18:31, 9 April 2022 (UTC)
I think you have to write the draft yourself before it can be submitted to WP:AFC. I do not have the best experience with this subject, but I would suggest reading over the AFC guidelines on that page if you hope to submit it for review. If you still seek to find attention to your draft, perhaps the teahouse can answer your question. CollectiveSolidarity (talk) 18:47, 9 April 2022 (UTC)

Add the list of seasons and what exact chapter they're in under battle royale.

Fortnite, like alot of other battle royales, has seasons. There should be a list of them under battle royale, going from the first season to the current season, and there should be a brief description of the season. This could help understand people of the game and its past and also for it to be documented on a trusted site like wikipedia rather than having to go to fandom.com Lavilz (talk) 15:02, 19 August 2023 (UTC)

If you need help finding this look for “Fortnite Battle Royale has also become a cultural phenomenon,[31] with several celebrities reporting they play the game, and athletes using Fortnite emotes as victory celebrations.[32] A notable streaming event in March 2018, with streamer Ninja playing Fortnite Battle Royale alongside Drake, Travis Scott, Kim DotCom, and Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster” Edzmplays (talk) 21:29, 3 December 2023 (UTC)

  •  Not done The statement is dated, so we want to say what position he was at the time of the event in 2018. --Masem (t) 22:11, 3 December 2023 (UTC)
Then can you just make it wide receiver but without the team name? Edzmplays (talk) 23:27, 3 December 2023 (UTC)

"online video game and game platform"

Why don't we just call Fortnite as a whole a "game platform". Sure, the focus is on a select few games, but it is as much of a game platform as Roblox is. WritingAboutCreepypastas (talk) 04:09, 12 December 2023 (UTC)

Loot Llamas in Save The World can no longer be bought with V-Bucks as of the v20.00 patch, but this article says it does. Source: https://www.fortnite.com/news/changes-to-save-the-world-store-and-llama-shop Techy804 (talk) 10:41, 13 December 2023 (UTC)

fortnite festival doesn't actually have any eminem songs, but the article says it does Rah12345 (talk) 15:51, 5 January 2024 (UTC)

I've changed the language, at least until we can describe a second featured artist. --Masem (t) 16:39, 5 January 2024 (UTC)

i want to edit fortnite becouse i have a good text and this is the text:

Fortnite

Fortnite is of course the best-selling game on Epic Games and perhaps temporarily the best game of all. Fortnite was released on July 21, 2017 for people who pre-ordered the game and for people who had not pre-ordered the game on July 25, 2017. There has recently been a new update that allows you to start a Lego world. A kind of Minecraft but in Fortnite. The rocket racing mode is a collab with rocket league, so it is with the different types of cars from rocket league, but with racing and not car balls / football Max56769867465 (talk) 15:42, 23 January 2024 (UTC)

Not done: this is not the right page to request additional user rights. You may reopen this request with the specific changes to be made and someone may add them for you. Also your edit request violates WP:NPOV and WP:V Shadow311 (talk) 16:11, 23 January 2024 (UTC)
