Question[edit]

While I think the Gibson Ridge radar software has hands down been the best piece of meteorologically related software to come into existence in years, this article reads a bit too much like a commercial.

This line ". It has helped professionals in every aspect of meteorology, from detecting early tornado signs, to forecasting hurricane strength days out."

It's a real nice piece of software and I use it every day but I don't know any methodology that you can use WSR-88D data to detect hurricane strength days in advance. That needs to be changed. You can utilize the data from the 88D in the Gr2 display to diagnose hurricane winds as the storm approaches land, but at a distance greater than the radars maximum unambiguous range the wind velocity data will not be helpful.

The article also seems to read like GR products are the actual WSR-88D and terminal doppler radar's that provide the data, rather than a very slick application for viewing the data.

"Although they make it very easy for the consumer to buy they recommend that you download the 21 day trial period before making a purchase." This line also seems like more of an advertisement than an encyclopedia article.

As important as the GR products are to the meteorological community I think the article needs to be well done, and more accurate.

Suggested improvements 2013[edit]

I suggest expanding the article content to be more in-depth as to the capabilities of the software. Since the last edit the ability of Dual-Polarity radar has been implemented in GR2 Analyst, as well as Analyst version 2.00 released. I also suggest branching each individual software into it's own topic headings inside the article. I will begin making small changes, but as I am yet unused to the exact Wiki practices it will be a slow process.

categories and wikiprojects[edit]

@Elijahandskip, do you know anything about this subject? The reason I pinged is that I'd like to see any appropriate categories and wikiprojects added, but I know zero about this subject. Thanks for any help! valereee (talk) 11:23, 8 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
