Motto

According to the Fall 2003 issue of Geneva Magazine, the college's motto remains the Latin phrase Pro Christo et Patria. "Wholehearted" and "Your life. Make it new," are, in VP of Institutional Advancement Sam Siple's words, "taglines" in part of a college-wide marketing effort to "unify Geneva's communications." --Jemiller226 07:07, 16 August 2005 (UTC)

Athletics

I've heard rumblings that Geneva may make a move to NCAA D-III and, accordingly, stop awarding athletics scholarships. I haven't personally spoken to Athletic Director Geno DeMarco personally, though, so I'm just tossing this up on the talk page in case someone else sees it and knows more than I do. --Jemiller226 07:16, 16 August 2005 (UTC)

Ban Travis York

I heard that Travis York is becoming the coach of an all stars girls little league team this year. He should be put on the notable attendes because of this.150.134.190.102 12:40, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

I don't know about the second time that he was added, but the first time it was a friend of mine, a fellow student. I expect whoever added him was also the same person who added my name but removed it after a few minutes. Nyttend 04:48, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

Adding Notable Alumni

I would like to add Dr. Walt Mueller and/or Dr. Steve Garber to the notable alumni page. I am hoping for an honest, thoughtful and respectful conversation about this. It seems this is the proper starting point for doing this and I should have done this before making any edits. First, does anyone have a specific/detailed reason why these academics do not qualify? I have read the guidelines for adding notables to an article and I interpret from my reading that these two men qualify. Respectfully. Bmstephany 04:12, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

I think Mueller is worth adding. Garber is as well, but has no Wiki page of his own. Maybe--in his case--that should be the first step? WordsAmp 20:14, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

Adding Notable Alumni part II

Again, I would like to generate a discussion about adding individuals to the notable alumni section of the article. Student Life Section

I think it would be appropriate to add a Student Life section to this page which could include sub-headings of: athletics, clubs, culture and traditions, etc. Anyone have any thoughts/objections before I make a major edit?Bmstephany (talk) 14:32, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

Here is my source(s). You will notice under section 3 titled Article Structure that Student Life is a part of the general format for colleges and universities. It should also be noted that the Notable alumni or attendees list on the Geneva College page does not adhere to WikiProject Universities standards (also under section 3 Article Structure. That's not what I meant: I meant any reliable sources for student life. I'm not objecting to the idea of such a section; it seems like a good thing. I don't know what would be a good source; colleges aren't my specialty with editing. Nyttend (talk) 13:10, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

I will look into it. My initial thought is the college website although that is not a third-party source. However, the college website is the most frequently used source on the current Geneva College page. Either way, if I find valid sources for student life I will then move forward. Lists

The lists on this page need cleaned up. Specifically the lists need to be prose style, rather than laundry list style. Also, regarding the list of Presidents, I am inclined to make a "List of Geneva College Presidents" wikipage and have a redirect within the Geneva College page. Any objection? Any suggestion? The only problem I see with the list of presidents is that each president does not have a wikipage, which is suggested as per wiki standards for wikipages that are lists. I seriously doubt that a list of college presidents would be appropriate as a standalone article. No problems with listing here. Nyttend (talk) 13:31, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

Teaching with Wikipedia Workshop at CMU (Aug 15)

Editors interested in this article may find the Teaching with Wikipedia Workshop that will take place at CMU on Aug 15 of interest. This workshop is open to general public, and is a joint imitative of CMU and Pitt). There will be another workshop held at Pitt in the Fall as well. It will cover how to include Wikipedia in one's course (WP:SUP) and also how to become a Wikipedia:Campus Ambassadors. Pennsylvania has currently only one ambassador (myself) and it would be great if we could recruit at least several more. Ambassadors help course instructors, showing them how Wikipedia works, and interact with students. Many current ambassadors come from the body of students, faculty and university staff; it is a fun adventure, and adds to one resume/CV, to boot :) If it sounds interesting, feel free to ask me any questions, or to come to the workshop. --_{Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk} 20:33, 9 August 2011 (UTC)

Undue Weight

I added the "Undue Weight" template because the Controversies section take up a large portion, especially the Route 18 rerouting. This rerouting apparently concluded in 2008, that's a long time ago for something that's taking up 1/5th of the article. It can easily be trimmed down, ditto the other sections. Introduction Update

I would like to improve the accuracy of the page by requesting the information in the intro be updated by changing the numbers of traditional undergraduate students ("1400" to "1200"), of majors and programs currently offered at the college ("over 30 majors" to "over 80 majors and programs"), and of number of master's programs ("handful" to "five"): ...the college moved to its present location in 1880, where it continues to educate a student body of about 1200 traditional undergraduates in over 80 majors and programs, as well as graduate students in five master's programs..."
