Meaww reliable?

Resolved

@Kbabej: Do we know if Meaww is a reliable (Wikipedia-appropriate) source? ---Another Believer (Talk) 18:10, 31 May 2020 (UTC)

Good call. According to this discussion on the RS noticeboard, there wasn't an official consensus, but it leaned toward no. --Kbabej (talk) 18:13, 31 May 2020 (UTC)
Kbabej, Ok, do you mind removing/replacing? I'm hoping we can keep the sourcing excellent here. Thanks! (And huge thanks for helping with this expansion!) ---Another Believer (Talk) 18:15, 31 May 2020 (UTC)
Done Another Believer removed until a better source is found. --Kbabej (talk) 18:18, 31 May 2020 (UTC)
Kbabej, Thanks! Marking as resolved. ---Another Believer (Talk) 18:18, 31 May 2020 (UTC)

Infobox

@Therequiembellishere: I don't understand your recent edit(s). Why are you removing the Nationality field and others which will hopefully be used in the future such as image fields? ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:41, 1 June 2020 (UTC)

Notability

If there are any concerns re: notability, please raise them here before going straight to AfD. I have drafted this article almost entirely based on reliable sources specifically about the subject (the exceptions being those confirming her music video appearances, which are rightfully more focused on other people). Thanks! ---Another Believer (Talk) 16:20, 31 May 2020 (UTC)

Discography?

Resolved

Does Gigi's contribution to the Madonna Rusical on Drag Race earn her a Discography section? ---Another Believer (Talk) 16:31, 31 May 2020 (UTC)

@Scootersfood: Should the Discography you added to Crystal Methyd's page be added here as well? ---Another Believer (Talk) 14:19, 10 June 2020 (UTC)
@Another Believer: I don't see why not. --Scootersfood (talk) 16:26, 10 June 2020 (UTC)
Scootersfood, Done, thanks! ---Another Believer (Talk) 18:42, 10 June 2020 (UTC)

Status

@Kbabej: Thanks for your help on this article. I've requested temporary page protection given recent unsourced changes by IP editors. I'm hoping we can keep this article up to date with Gigi's post-Drag Race endeavors, add a few pics once they are available at Commons, then co-nominate this entry for Good article status! Thanks again, ---Another Believer (Talk) 15:03, 9 June 2020 (UTC)

@Another Believer: I think temporary page protection is a good idea. I was thinking of requesting it myself but didn't want to step on any toes. Hopefully that reduces some of the unreferenced info being added. --Kbabej (talk) 15:16, 9 June 2020 (UTC)
Update: Protected for 1 month. ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:37, 9 June 2020 (UTC)
Kbabej, Might be a while until someone gets around to adding images of Gigi to Commons, especially when (I'm assuming) there won't be a 2020 DragCon. Think we should go ahead and take the plunge? I'll see if I can revisit the above sections (worth mentioning?) soon. ---Another Believer (Talk) 18:27, 31 July 2020 (UTC)

Worth mentioning?

---Another Believer (Talk) 18:21, 31 May 2020 (UTC)

Done Added, but open to revisions. ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:38, 22 October 2020 (UTC)

Worth mentioning? (Part II)

---Another Believer (Talk) 18:22, 31 May 2020 (UTC)

Perhaps Part I and Part II of worth mentioning could be combined with something along the lines of "Goode has been criticized for some of their comments and postings on social media, including X incidents" ? Thoughts? --Kbabej (talk) 18:30, 31 May 2020 (UTC)
Kbabej, This might work!, especially at the end of the Personal life section where there's currently mention of her Instagram following. ---Another Believer (Talk) 18:33, 31 May 2020 (UTC)
Done Added, but open to revisions. ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:38, 22 October 2020 (UTC)

@Kbabej: I've updated the article a bit based on recent press coverage. I've not yet reviewed the above 3 sources, but I'll try to do so soon unless you beat me to the punch. I've also just submitted a request for a copy edit from the Guild of Copy Editors, which I like to do ahead of Good article nominations. Do you have any final thoughts or concerns before we take the plunge? ---Another Believer (Talk) 17:19, 25 October 2020 (UTC)

@Another Believer: I think it looks good! I reviewed the first two above sources, but didn't get to the third. --Kbabej (talk) 01:32, 28 October 2020 (UTC)
Kbabej, Great, thanks! I will strike them above. ---Another Believer (Talk) 01:38, 28 October 2020 (UTC)
@Kbabej: Update: I've nominated the article for Good status, with both of us listed as nominators. ---Another Believer (Talk) 15:10, 6 November 2020 (UTC)

Mention Crystal Methyd?

Should we mention Crystal Methyd? I'm not sure if this is rumor/here-say, or relevant because they were co-contestants?

---Another Believer (Talk) 17:56, 31 May 2020 (UTC)

I'd think it would fall more under hearsay, especially since Crystal doesn't have an article yet. But I don't have strong feelings either way. --Kbabej (talk) 18:06, 31 May 2020 (UTC)
Kbabej, There's now a page for Crystal Methyd, if that makes a difference. I'd be ok with a passing mention about their 'dating rumor' but also understand Wikipedia is not a rumor mill. ---Another Believer (Talk) 18:31, 31 July 2020 (UTC)
@Kbabej: Out says, "Most of the most hardcore fans have come to the conclusion that the pair are not actually dating but have essentially crafted a narrative for PR". I am going to leave out mention of this rumor for now. Hey, out of curiosity, are you still interested in co-nominating this article for Good status? Not required, just wondering, thanks! ---Another Believer (Talk) 00:00, 23 October 2020 (UTC)
@Another Believer: I think leaving it out is for the best then! Yes, I'd be interested in co-nominating. How would that work? --Kbabej (talk) 20:03, 24 October 2020 (UTC)
Kbabej, I'm happy to nominate once we feel we're ready. ---Another Believer (Talk) 21:56, 24 October 2020 (UTC)

old redirect?

Resolved

I'm not technically learned enough to know how to fix this, but if you search Gigi Goode this redirect to her season on drag race pops up, before her actual fleshed out Wiki article. Just an FYI! Tajaditas(talk) 06:09, 24 August 2022 (UTC)

Fixed ---Another Believer (Talk) 13:59, 24 August 2022 (UTC)

Use of 'they'

I've not yet come across the subject's preferred (non-drag) pronouns, but Gigi Goode's mom used 'they' in a video aired on the show:

---Another Believer (Talk) 17:28, 31 May 2020 (UTC)

I should also note, Them. uses "they" but again, not specifically confirmed by the subject:

@Rosyvirgo: I've reverted your recent edit for being unsourced. Can you provide a source re: dead name? ---Another Believer (Talk) 00:33, 21 July 2020 (UTC)

@Another Believer: Gigi stated in an instagram live on the 27th June 2020 that their birth name is their deadname, but they didn’t save the live so i have no way of showing you the proof. But it’s just very ignorant to deadname someone after they’ve said that they don’t go by that name anymore. Please don’t use their deadname on this page, it’s really disrespectful

I understand, but at the same time, this is Wikipedia and we require sources to dictate page content. I and other editors will be happy to update this page once we have some sort of confirmation and (no offense) not just your word. ---Another Believer (Talk) 00:46, 21 July 2020 (UTC)

@Another Believer: I get that, but it would only take a couple minutes of searching to find out that gigi said that their birth name is their deadname. If you search on twitter ‘gigi deadname’ there are a lot of tweets that come up talking about it(which proves that it’s not just me who knows that gigi said it). You will probably be able to find a source on twitter, but i’m struggling to find an actual screen recording of gigi saying it

If it's easy to find a written source, why not link one here? A secondary source is strongly preferred, but we could consider using a Tweet from Gigi about their own pronouns name. (Tweets from any other person talking about them wouldn't be acceptable.) Thanks, Armadillopteryxtalk 01:19, 21 July 2020 (UTC)

@Armadillopteryx: there is no written source. as i said, gigi referred to their birth name as their dead name in a *live stream*. but they didn’t save the live stream when it ended, so there’s no footage of them saying it. I said that you can look at other people’s tweets about gigis deadname because it proves that it’s not just my word, many other people are talking about it. also, what you said about gigi tweeting about their pronouns makes no sense. that has nothing to do with their birth name being their dead name. it really isn’t hard to just respect someone’s identity

You've made your point, but we've made ours as well. Please come back when there's any source for confirmation. ---Another Believer (Talk) 01:48, 21 July 2020 (UTC)
Sorry, I meant "name", not "pronouns". Anyway, out of respect for Gigi and per Wikipedia policy, we can update the article when there is any source of info that what you say is correct, as Another Believer mentioned. Thanks, Armadillopteryxtalk 02:11, 21 July 2020 (UTC)

Unsourced recent addition

I've reverted this edit for being unsourced, but the claims may be helpful. ---Another Believer (Talk) 19:37, 16 June 2021 (UTC)

Name change

I've updated the subject's name to Gigi Goode, per her legal name change. I've included a RS. To me, this seems like a clear case of not including a dead name, but perhaps other editors feel differently about a former last name vs. first name? And she did become notable under the former last name. Opening a discussion just in case. --Kbabej (talk) 16:52, 6 October 2022 (UTC)
