To merge, given that Organic Minimalism is still a manifesto of the artist rather than a movement. Klbrain (talk) 09:03, 9 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

For Organic Minimalism to be a movement, it would require more than one member. Colon is the only artists to use this term to describe her work. Vexations (talk) 13:58, 20 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This entry sets forth an art manifesto communicating to the world theories, definitions, elements, and views of the artist addressing wider issues of human perception as a conduit to accessing metaphysical realms through art. Historically, women’s original ideas and philosophical contributions to the discourse of art theories and narratives have been intentionally diminished, deleted, and often altogether erased. Importantly, in this case, as one of the very few women practitioners of Minimalism, and the only Latinx artist in the Light and Space movement, Colon’s novel contribution of a progressive theoretical art manifesto on perceptual minimal art, is, de facto, a political statement that must be given weight and its own section for educational purposes to benefit the public and document women’s contributions to art theory and practice. Furthermore, the resources, citations, and content of this section of Organic Minimalism are not mainly biographical. To the contrary, thet adds a new theoretical framework for wider applications in the discourse of art history and contemporary sculptural practices. Empress-of-angels Do you agree that nobody except Colon has joined this "movement"? Vexations (talk) 23:28, 20 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

One artist makes a manifesto; others see and join in. That later becomes a movement. For example: From Wikipedia: In an article in the February 2006 issue of his magazine Juxtapoz, Robert Williams took credit for originating the term "lowbrow art." He stated that in 1979 Gilbert Shelton of the publisher Rip Off Press decided to produce a book featuring Willams' paintings. Williams said he decided to give the book the self-deprecating title The Lowbrow Art of Robt. Williams, since no authorized art institution would recognize his type of art. "Lowbrow" was thus used by Williams in opposition to "highbrow." He said the name then stuck, even though he feels it is inappropriate. Williams refers to the movement as "cartoon-tainted abstract surrealism."[8] Lately, Williams has begun referring to his own work as "Conceptual Realism."[9] Empress-of-angels (talk) 00:12, 21 December 2021 (UTC)Empress-of-angels[reply]

Then you agree with me that this is not yet a movement. Look, Colon is a notable artist, but her manifesto/movement is not something that needs its own article. We don't normally split off everything that isn't strictly biographical. "Kafkaesque" is part of our article on Franz Kafka. Vexations (talk) 12:51, 21 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This manifesto (Wikipedia definition: An art manifesto is a public declaration of the intentions, motives, or views of an artist could be deemed a movement in the broader sense because Colon's term has now been adopted to include other artists. I have noted the reference in the article.Empress-of-angels (talk) 20:38, 21 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This is really something that no source has ever said. Kapoor has been making work since the earlier 70s, but since Colon published her manifesto in 2016, he's all of a sudden a member of a Movement that she started? No way. Vexations (talk) 11:10, 22 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
This merger is long overdue. If and when contemporary artists besides Colon join in, then we might need an article. --Orange Mike | Talk 17:49, 27 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I support the merge, especially that although I'm not very used to these magazines, there are press releases among the few sources supporting the article. It seems that efforts to show that it's a popular movement were unsuccessful, but it certainly deserves mention in this article. —PaleoNeonate10:45, 16 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Support merge - I agree with merger proposal to merge Organic Minimalism to the Gisela Colon article. There simply is not enough out there in the historical record or sources to substantiate a separate article. I also agree with the comments by the editors above Orange Mike, Vexations, and PaleoNeonate. An article like this that pertains to a movement with one member seems a bit like a walled garden? Support merge - other than this single artist, it has no notability. Onel5969 TT me 13:19, 17 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
