Set Destroyed by Wildfire

There should be some mention of the fact that a wildfire destroyed the entire original set before this episode could be filmed, which IIRC caused a last minute rewrite in order to address the fact. Regarding use of Laugh Track in series

I believe the comment about this being one of the "few" episodes that doesn't use a laugh track is totally incorrect. They stopped using it entirely as some point late in the overall run. There are entire seasons without it.

Hawkeye?

This photo has Hawkeye Pierce standing next to the rocks (spelling "Goodbye"). Yet in the episode, Hawkeye is on the helicopter (leaving MASH 4077, for the last time), BJ Hunnicut (on motorcyle) rides off as Hawkeye goes up in helicopter. This photo must be a Promotional for (not a scene from) the episode. GoodDay 18:00, 26 November 2005 (UTC)

Recent Edits

In hoping to bring this episode's article up to GA or FA status, I have written a new introduction; while it is far from perfect, I think it's an improvement, and working in the right direction. In addition, I have cropped and shrunk down the image in the infobox. It was much larger/wider than most images, so it now conforms more to the 4:3 format the finale was shown in. Check out WP:EPISODE for episode guidelines and help. All the other episodes in MASH, except Abyssinia, Henry have been tagged for review as they fail notability. Snerk! Only an editor who's been here WAY too long could possibly think this one fails notability even potentially possibly maybe kinda almost. It's one the highest rated airings of anything ever, for one, apparently a sort of cultural event at the time, and even though I wasn't even born yet when it aired, let alone a "fan", I knew by way of countless references and parodies of the iconic ending scene. If we were to cut down all American-produced TV episode articles down to only the top ten most notable American TV episodes of all time, this would still make the cut, and you'd be hard-pressed to find a moment in time where a deletion review or "probably not notable review request" type tag for this episode would actually result in anything but a complete negation of said review/tag. Regarding the date of the airing of the last episode

1983 is definitely an incorrect date for the airing of the last episode. I remember watching that episode and talking about it at school with classmates as a senior in high school...and I graduated in 1982, not 1983. Ginnysanchez 13:49, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

Are you sure? It definitely aired in 1983, since that would be the end of the 11th season, if the show began in fall 1972 --Jnelson09 02:16, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

Hi ~~ My husband and I watched the last episode of MASH in the hospital room the night before my son was born. He was born February 25, 1983. It had to have been aired on February 24th, not the 28th.

Minor plot details

Having just watched the episode, I note that: Soon-Lee was a Korean refuge, never among the Chinese POWs; Winchester did not treasure the poetry book, only Margaret did; Winchester describes his intestinal distress as nerves and it vanishes after he receives news of his appointment. The most substantial thing is that Sidney suggests it is Hawkeye's newfound "fear" (not "failures") that will make him a better (more empathic) doctor (which he distinguishes from the difficulties this will bring him as a surgeon). Total runtime

The article currently states a runtime of 2 1/2 hours. However the respective entry on IMDB says it is 120 minutes. So what is it? Were there different cuts?... GELongstreet (talk) 23:40, 28 February 2017 (UTC)

I have the MASH: The Complete Collection DVD box set. This episode's total run-time is 2 hours and 26 seconds (02:00:26), including closing credits and the 5-second 20th Television "fanfare" closing logo. But that's with no commercials of course. With commercials I can imagine that it would have aired for more like 2 and a half hours so that may explain the discrepancy. Allthenamesarealreadytaken (talk) 09:09, 10 April 2017 (UTC)
