Clean-Up

[edit]

I have had a go at structuring this article since it was pretty much incomprehensible before, but what remains is brief and lacks citations so further contributions are required. I had trouble finding verifiable sources, the Biography page at [1]is the only thing I could find. Gandygatt (talk) 18:11, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Right, this aricle has turned into a bit of a joke now. I think we editors need to bear a few things in mind;
  • Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, NOT a promotion or legal document, so articles should be written in a neutral, encyclopedic style.
  • Wikipedia articles are in the public domain, and consist of free content, so expect your contributions to be altered.
  • Writing "verifiable changes" or "official edit" as a comment is not sufficient as evidence of verifiable sources.
  • Since this is a living person's biography, I urge all you "official GJ representation" to read this. Gandygatt (talk) 22:32, 6 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Edit War

[edit]

Stop it. I'm going to lock the article and block both users and all IPs involved if it doesn't end immediately. No further changes regarding that paragraph will be made without discussion on this talk page from now on. All information needs to verifiable and come from reliable sources and be from a neutral point of view. Jauerbackdude?/dude. 21:31, 7 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have reverted a whole bunch of in-house links added by GJ office who should probably not be editing this page. Independent sources are needed.--Charles (talk) 17:33, 8 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

From Cat - Guru Josh PR So sorry - cannot find a way to contact you better then this. Mistakenly thought Jauerback was one of our log ins. I put all those links on the Guru Josh page today. Think you will not find better ones elsewhere. However, understand your need for caution in light of recent events! Matt Cogger has been in touch previously. I wonder if you would consider looking at the links I had added today and re-post them? Please advise by emailing me @ catty.w@virgin.net or posting comment below this one. I'd advise you not to edit this article as you have a clear conflict of interest. However, the sources you've added are not sufficient. They need to be independent reliable sources (Guru Josh's website isn't one), that are verifiable. Jauerbackdude?/dude. 18:50, 8 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

But what does he actually do?

[edit]

The article doesn't make it entirely clear what he does; I assumed he was a DJ who released a few singles in 1990, but there's very little about his post-1990 career. He is said to perform regularly, but in what capacity? The discography suggests that he essentially only released two singles, in 1990; was there an album? What has he done since then? -Ashley Pomeroy (talk) 18:04, 23 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

21/mar/2011

[edit]

Since this article has fallen into some disarray I thought I would add some more modern details into the mix, certainly the omission of Frozen teardrops needed to be ammended as did the lack of mention of his latest single. As to verifiable sources for the release, it is on sale on the 28th of march 2011 and currently can only be listened to either via youtube or via soundcloud.

Additionally, all members of the Guru-Josh project have now gone their own ways and Guru-Josh now performs as "Guru Josh" not as "Guru-Josh project" although he still holds the rights to the name.

The option to upload a photograph is hidden somewhere? there are some new photos he has released which could be used.

Finally, as to what it is he does, he is a performers (as opposed to a DJ) who performs a live show with "Diva" his saxophonist and plays a selection of his tracks live with a keyboard and sings with a microphone whilst accompanied by the saxophonist. Whilst he can extend his show with DJ'ing it is not the core of his show which is a 'live' performance. Zhardoum (talk) 21:30, 21 March 2011 (UTC) Zhardoum.[reply]

Historical Context of the Guru Josh Project

[edit]

I know that people want to keep the performance group off this page, however according to Wikipedia's Policies and standards, we do need to mention his membership in said group. The repeated removal of cited fact is inappropriate and borderline vandalistic. It is a verifiable fact from reliable sources that this artist was part of the group therefore providing a short blurb about the association and the link to the other page is appropriate. Please demonstrate policy based reasoning for not having this on the page prior to removing cited facts again. Hasteur (talk) 18:42, 16 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Concerning the death of Guru Josh

[edit]

Poor him! I didn't have any idea that Guru Josh died for 2 days ago. Could anyone please tell me how he died? Did he die of cancer, or something like it? :/
