Suits

[edit]

Ok. So Halston is a historical figure. But what of his suits? I just bought a very expensive suit, with the Halston name on it, made in Italy (so it says), and now I am not sure that I actually got any value. It was "on sale"... but who is selling these things besides Filene's Basement?

i have one 2. i bought it at filenes. it sure seems nice. did i get gyped? i hope not.

I bought a couple of the Halston suits. It appears as though he was a very prominent designer in the 70's and 80's and then his company was sold in the early 90's when he agreed to design for JC Penny. The suits look like they are great quality I should go back and ask where they were aqcuired to see what the story is...

Copyright, creation of stub

[edit]

After an anonymous user pointed out that this page was a major copyright violation (and has been since its creation), I blanked the page and added the copyvio tag. I've edited "Halston/Temp" to create a stub for this article so that it would not be blank when the previous page is deleted, but I really have no knowledge in this subject. Hopefully, someone else will come along and rewrite this article. EWS23 | (Leave me a message!) 07:31, 20 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Current state of this article

[edit]

Given that Halston is a fashion icon, I'm shocked at the state of this article. I'm going to try to bring it up to good article status. If anybody would like to join me, feel free. janejellyroll 00:48, 1 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Discrepancy on origin of pillbox hat

[edit]

There appears to be a discrepancy for both this article and the one on Oleg Cassini, as to who designed the hats worn by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. Maybe both did, but the articles do not make this clear. I can't verify either way.--Metron4 (talk) 15:49, 27 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"Gushing", silly, and unencyclopedic language is prevelent here!

[edit]

Language like "his very close friend", etc., is gushing language and unencyclopedic.
This is ridiculous, and like "Sergeant Joe Friday" (Jack Webb) said, "Just the facts, ma'am." Don't try to make Halston sound like Jesus Christ or The Buddha. 98.67.107.17 (talk) 18:04, 9 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Pillbox Hat

[edit]

The article on Halston states that he was responsible for designing the 'pillbox' hat worn by Mrs. Kennedy at the inauguration; This is in fact a true and correct statement as was verified by Mrs. Onassis in the August 1991 Vanity Fair issue on Halston after his death; However the word 'pillbox' here is linked to a photograph taken of Mrs. Kennedy in a pillbox hat designed by Oleg Cassini worn in Dallas on the day of the assassination. Halston's design authorship of this particular 'pillbox' was a great controversy since Oleg Cassini won the title of Official Designer to the First Lady. Certainly this fashion event deserves distinction for what it was; And for what is was that captivated America and the world stage by the most photographed woman of an era! It deserves an accurate Link.Gr8Prentender (talk) 06:27, 20 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

No photo of Halston himself?

[edit]

Wish someone would upload a photo of this guy into Wikimedia so we could put it on the page. Very peculiar that there isn't one. The Final Edict (talk) 00:39, 20 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Not so much peculiar as not being able to find a good one that is not restricted. I’ve put up a banner to request one. LovelyLillith (talk) 23:22, 13 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
