The maths doesn't work

[edit]

The article says

The company plans to take over 550 retail locations across the UK, almost trebling the number of existing stores and doubling their workforce.

In the cited source, I find that the figure 550 doesn't occur, but the figure 555 is present twice: in the title as Thomas Cook buyers pledge to save 555 shops and 2,500 jobs, with the second time in the phrase All 555 Thomas Cook shops are to be bought by rival Hays Travel. The source also says ... a significant step for Hays, which has 190 shops ... and ... almost trebling the number of shops ... Now, if they had 190 shops and will treble that, it would make 570 shops in total - an increase of 380. Again, if they had 190 shops and will add 555 to that, it makes 745 shops - which is almost a quadrupling. This is reinforced by another phrase in the source: ... represent a quadrupling of its travel agency stores .... --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 21:36, 9 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Ownership

[edit]

As John Hays has passed away, who is now the majority owner? SK2242 (talk) 23:55, 13 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Ultimately, that will be the person (or persons) named in his Will as the beneficiary of that part of his estate. Of course, it needs to go through probate first, which can take months; so for now the co-owner is "the estate of John Hays". --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 00:34, 14 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
