removed from the article

I removed the following phrase from the article, because the only time the movie actually shows Rose wearing the diamond before the famous nude scene is the moment when Huckley puts it around her neck after presenting it to her.

• Rose wore the diamond while the rest of the men were smoking and drinking brandy.

I also removed the following phrase because it belongs on the talk page, not in the article. It refers to the last two paragraphs, regarding the necklace that Celine Dion wore at the 1998 Academy Awards.

• The above statements contradict each other-- was the necklace an actual diamond or a sapphire? Will someone please verify and correct this entry?

However, the question is a valid one. The last two paragraphs of the article do contradict each other in a variety of ways. Only one can be true, since Celine Dion onBold textly wore one necklace in that awards ceremony. --Cromwellt|talk|contribs 20:47, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

Translation

To whom ever can edit the page please do so. I just was watching "Titanic" and the scene where they introduce the diamond he says a french phrase. Which I believe they said the heart of the ocean is what it translates to. It was sometging like and forgive me"laocure dalamare. When I plugged the heart of the ocean into google translate the french translation was not the same. The french phrase they use actually translates to the heart of the sea. I don't speak french and it's possible that the translator didn't work properly, but in the oast its been very accurate. So either the movie uses the incorrect terminology or this article did. Could someone please change it to the correct phrase which is the heart of the sea and not the heart of the ocean. Thank you, Sam Kachar. You can reach me at samkachar @gmail.com

I strongly suspect that the word for both is the same in French, and either way, it's known as the Heart of the Ocean. Mythpage88 (talk) 09:38, 14 February 2012 (UTC)

I'm very surprised to see a response so quickly and very pleased. Since this is a fictitious gem I guess it doesn't really matter other than the word in french for ocean and sea are in fact two different words and the french phrase used in this article and in the movie translates to "The heart of the sea" and not ocean. The only reason I'm following up is I feel like we perpetuate tge idea that Americans are ignorant and dumb. I also doubt making this one little change will reverse the tide of ignorance but we need to start some where. Would it be possible to at least modify the article to acknowledge the disparity and erroneous translation??? Sothebys of Beverly Hills?????

The necklace was valued for up to $4 million and was donated to Sotheby's auction house in Beverly Hills Can we get a reference on this? The last I knew, Sotheby's didn't have an auction house in Beverly Hills. They may have a real estate office but there's no auction house.
