Please see Wikipedia:Verifiability. Where are the sources for the following statements?

"number of applications for places in the school has been steadily declining"
"This has been dealt with partly by a reduction in the number of pupils admitted, and partly by a reduction in the educational standard required for admission to the school"
"financial difficulties have led to redundancies among the teachers"

"reduction in the number of pupils admitted" : The Hulme Grammar School Yearbooks
"financial difficulties have led to redundancies among the teachers" : This was reported in the newspaper "The Oldham Advertiser" sometime in 2008. I do not have the exact date of the report.
"number of applications ... has been steadily declining" and *"reduction in the educational standard required for admission to the school" : I am not aware of any published source for this, so it is no doubt correct to leave it out of the Wikipedia article. I know it is true from personal conversation with a previous Head of the school, but clealry this is not sufficient evidence for its inclusion.

Principal[edit]

90.218.209.1 has changed the Principal from Neeson to Jennings twice without citing a source. The official school site currently says that the Principal is Neeson so I've reverted it to that. I think we need a solid source to change it from what it says on the school page. srushe (talk) 21:12, 1 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

To be precise the name which has been repeatedly substituted is "Tony Jennings". In fact Anthony Jennings is an IT technician at the school. Presumably some silly boy thinks it amusing to pretend he is the principal. It seems safe to assume Neeson is correct, and to regard the change as vandalism. Basil Jagger[edit]

On 3 November 2008 an anonymous user at 62.3.71.221 added the note "Basil Jagger, father of Mick Jagger was a former pupil". This note was removed by user Mayalld on the grounds "Unless this can be cited, it can't go in". It can be cited , eg: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/arts/main.jhtml?xml=/arts/2006/11/14/bajagger14.xml. However, it seems to me doubtful that the fact is noteworthy: as far as I know Basil Jagger is unknown except as father of Mick. JamesBWatson (talk) 17:41, 4 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Notable Alumni[edit]

I fail to see the relevance of any of the 'Notable Alumni' section. It seems to further the earlier discussion that the page is being treated as an advertisement for the school. Few if any of the career paths chosen by the 'Notable Alumni' seem to have any founding in the subjects taught and the activities taken at the school. Convercide (talk) 03:30, 1 May 2009 (GMT)

On the above note, what is the point of the 'Curriculum' section? Don't all schools have a curriculum? It's advertising the school again. This is Wikipedia, not a prospectus.

Extensive searching fails to produce any reliable evidence for associating Philip Schofield with this school. He was added to this article by an anonymous editor from IP address 195.234.243.2, which has a considerable history of unconstructive editing, so I have removed the entry.

Stop Editing to Advertise[edit]

There have been several edits over the years that are either being made by an employee or pupil of the school. A prime example is one that I have just recently counter-edited. Why were the prices for the tuition fees included in the article? It's not an advert for the school. This article is to provide factual information on a historical building, not to outline what prices to pay.
