Legal History Behind "Name Change"[edit]

According to this lawsuit brief, ICOM Simulations was founded in 1995 by Tod Zipnick. Zipnick had previously founded TMQ Software in 1981, and then ICOM Systems in 1983 to partner with TMQ, but sold shares in those companies after being the victim of an attempted "defrauding" by people working for the company A.C. Nielsen. He then founded ICOM Simulations.

This Wikipedia article does not mention any of that and simply says that TMQ was renamed to ICOM, using as a source a memoir by a former employee, which simply states TMQ was "now renamed ICOM Simulations (don't ask)." I don't know if the people writing this article knew about the complicated history behind the name change, and perhaps what is in the article right now may be a "good enough" approximation.--RampagingCarrot (talk) 21:31, 22 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

FYI, Tod was one of my best friends way back. He and his wife and I and my wife would go out to dinner and spend $hundreds during his last days, when he was dying. I met him in Chicago and moved to Northern California. He came to Northern California to be treated at Stanford's medical center. When I lived in Chicago, I spent countless hours at his offices.

Of note, Tod came to me and asked me to develop a game for Ralston Purina, but I only had 3 days to do it. I somehow managed to do it, and the game is now somewhat famous - Chase the Chuckwagon. It's not much of a game, but is coveted by collectors for its rarity.
