GA review

I've reviewed the article, fixed a number of minor problems with obvious solutions, and will pass the article as a Good Article shortly. As of the automated suggestions cited above; most of them are not applicable for this kind of article, and those that are appear to have been taken care of. For example, the three distinct remarks about the "Don't" contraction all refer to the title of the single.

For future, it might be useful to attach a screenshot from the actual music video. Unfortunately, such screenshot would probably by necessity be fair use, not free. 泥紅蓮凸凹箱 03:49, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

I believe I've completed the procedure of passing the article as a Good Article. If I missed anything, please let me know. 泥紅蓮凸凹箱 03:59, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

Abuse of GA process?

Given the evidence of abuse of the GA process for the above review, I believe this article should be de-listed from GA status until the issue can be resolved or another uninvolved reviewer performs GA on it. Ronnotel 21:18, 27 September 2007 (UTC)

GA Review again

Have been watching this article and did see the dispute about that GA review, and I do agree that the GA pass was not done with good intentions that this article does indeed pass the GA criteria. After a short read, this article does not meet Criterion #2 in WP:WIAGA: "It is factually accurate and verifiable". The parodies listed in the music video section is completely unsourced; the reference used in the section does not mention any of these people listed in the parodies. I have failed this GA nomination based on that the section violates Wikipedia:No original research. Consider revising this section to make sure it is verifiable.

The lead paragraph is somewhat misleading because it says that the song was rated highly by reviewers when there are reviewers who rated negatively. Also, the sentence "The music video also received some acclaim" was not elaborated further in the article's prose. Reply back to me if you have questions about the GA review. OK, well I'll work on what you suggested, and take it back to GAC some time soon. Dihydrogen Monoxide (H2O) 01:24, 30 September 2007 (UTC)
You renominated while a GAR was going on. Please see the links above for further comments, and nominate again when you feel they are addressed. Geometry guy 20:50, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

Why didn't you look for this? Fifty Fifty Films. The absence of commas throughout the article needs to be improved. Only trying to help... :) --andreasegde 17:40, 27 October 2007 (UTC)

GA comments

Overall the article is quite short and seems really skinny. Some questions about expansions Song details. Not much is said about the song.

  • We don’t know what the lyrics are even about, save for a vague self-comment by the band leader. Can you quote parts of the lyrics for us and tell us what it is about. Is there a description of the music styles and motifs?
  • Lol, this isn’t classical music, but do we have info like the key of the song? Or what time the song is written, ie simple duple time 2/4, common time 4/4, compound duple 6/8, simple triple ¾ or whatever . . . or even what structural form it is like a rondo ABACA. Well, I doubt rock music would be analysed in this way.
  • Padding with more reviews. . . if all else fails
  • Is Youtube a RS? You seem to have inferred some of the parodies yourself – isn’t that OR? :( even if it is obvious what the parody is.
    • If it's obvious what the parody is, it isn't OR, is it? And if that's the case, then any source of the video would be considered RS. I have another video source - last.fm - if there are issues with YouTube's video being a "fake" or something. Dihydrogen Monoxide (H2O) 08:22, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
  • Please find a sub for #2 (self-ref)

I can do a copyedit if everything else is in order.Blnguyen (bananabucket) 00:17, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

On all of the content here, maybe refer to ninemsn which is a newssite, so generally considered something of a reliable source. As to the song structure, I 'm afraid being at work means I can't stop them playing Guy Sebastian in favour of Powderfinger, but I'll give it a listen tonight and see if I can nut it out, but then I have to find a reliable source that confirms my rationale (not an easy task, since it's very infringant upon OR). But these videos appear (in title, at least) to be able to appease some of your other concerns. Sorry Alex, but you'll have to watch these videos and try to glean some info out of them to bolster the quality of the article. 4 whole videos on the making of the one song or vide (and I'm not sure which, but I'm guessing the video) should be more than ample to provide a complete and broad coverage of the subject matter. Again, I'd do it, but I'm nowhere that I can access these videos. --lincalinca 08:45, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
It's not that convenient for me either, but I'll take a look. Good god though, you're at work at 7pm?! I mean 8pm?! (DST, right?) In any case, tell them Guy Sebastian is no longer a virgin, and put Powderfinger on during the uproar ;) — H2O —  08:57, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
Yes, I was working. In fact until 10 to 10. One day left, I keep reminding myself. This Friday and that's it! WooT! Anyway, I'm home now, so I'll scour what I can of the song. While I was trying to think of it at work, I kept on getting the LnR sequence in my head instead. Precious iTunes is now at the ready. --lincalinca 11:36, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
Wow, great work Linc. — H2O —  08:12, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

Yes it passes. Can someone fill in the template for me please? I'm knackered with all these DYK uploading and stuff. Perhaps I should resign as admin so that I can't update DYK anymore.... Blnguyen (bananabucket) 08:15, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
