Husband[edit]

I think that you'll find that Imelda Staunton is married to the ACTOR Jim Carter.

Picture[edit]

Can we get a real picture of her? There are plenty from premiers and stuff where she's not in makeup and not hiding behind a movie title.

Ferrell[edit]

Is she related to Will Ferrell?

Two or three Olivier Awards[edit]

The number of awards, three or two, has been changed several times recently (and I am partly to blame, as I inserted "three", but reverted to "two", explaining my change of mind in the edit summary). The point is, she was awarded "best supporting actress" (I think: the official web page is down at the time of writing) for two roles in 1985 but, as in all other years, only one award was made. With her 1991 award, this makes two, not three. Other reasoning, further information or definitive answers very welcome. Please, if you want to change it, don't just do it: explain here, or at least in the edit summary. --Old Moonraker (talk) 09:52, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Afterthought: the promoters have thoughtfully published a list of all multiple winners (three or more) here. I.S. is not on it: I propose a revert to two. --Old Moonraker (talk) 09:56, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
OK, reverted to "two". --Old Moonraker (talk) 19:40, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think the sentence should be changed to correct this confusion. Vsanborn (talk) 15:32, 16 January 2010 (UTC) I have changed th sentence Vsanborn (talk) 17:34, 16 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome improvement. --Old Moonraker (talk) 18:16, 16 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Awards /[edit]

"For the latter, she drew widespread critical acclaim as Vera Drake, earning a number of awards including the BAFTA and Venice Film Festival Awards for best actress in a leading role."

This looks like a fused sentence; I guess I'll just pull it apart.

Also, I think she should have a section for "Awards" like many other actors. Perhaps someone with a little more skill on Wikipedia should start it up, though. But if no one else does, I guess I'll do it. James Who (talk) 01:34, 10 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'll start it up with the assumption that people will edit and add. Vsanborn (talk) 15:34, 16 January 2010 (UTC) Awards and nominations list has been added. Vsanborn (talk) 17:34, 16 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Vsanborn :) I'll come back and have a better look at this later James Who (talk) 08:33, 13 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Imelda's nationality[edit]

I have revised the wording in the lead regarding Imelda's nationality to a factual place of birth as it was not verified and as her parents are both Irish but she was born in London, without a sound reference it is not straightforward. Anglo-Irish as it was before is not appropriate and the change today to English (which should have been English people anyway), would also require a reliable source. Online sources and the media variously describe her as 'English', English-born', British' or 'of Irish parents...' For those born in the United Kingdom a useful guide to determining a person's nationality in Wikipedia is set out in Wikipedia:Nationality of people from the United Kingdom and is also largely influenced by their self-declaration, for which I could not find a suitable cite in this case. If anyone has some reliavble sources they would be appreciated. Tmol42 (talk) 18:55, 4 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Tmol42, I agree, what is this perversion of labelling everyone as being ethnically Engllish just because they were born on a part oon an island named with a modern politcal concept of England. There is British Citizenship, de jour, ethnicity is self defining and personal. 85.10.119.182 (talk) 13:54, 14 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Citation needed[edit]

This article claims that Imelda Staunton is best friends with as well as neighbor of Emma Thompson but provides no citations to interviews or any other such evidence stating the two women are friends - let alone best friends. Xprivate eyex (talk) 11:44, 24 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, but what year?[edit]

Staunton’s dog, Molly, appeared as Chowsie the dog in Gypsy at the Chichester Festival Theatre from 6 October to 8 November…
