Encyclopedic format[edit]

This article doesn't read as an encyclopedic article. Looks like the guy wrote it himself in a self-promotional manner. Besides, I'm a hispanic myself, I've been on the Internet since 1994 and I've never heard of quepasa.com in my entire life. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Retinoblastoma (talkcontribs) 21:20, 26 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If you are truly Hispanic you would know Quepasa. It was fuonded by Peterson and Gloria Estefan, that is the first Spanish website in the history of America. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.58.144.2 (talk) 23:39, 1 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Peterson has been known for a long time as the founder of the first famous hispanic/latino internet brand, quepasa. he is also known for fund raising on hispanic issues, being involved with the Democratic political party at a high level, due to that hispanic connection. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.52.154.29 (talk) 11:35, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Saw this person, Jeffery Petersen, interviewed on a panel at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University yesterday evening, October 27, 2016. He is clearly someone with influence apparently a significant part of the Hispanic movement to technology in American History. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.117.102.182 (talk) 16:43, 28 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

July, 2018 edits and reverts; notability[edit]

Research is leading to signs of significant notability in this article. The article has seen increased attention and possible attacks in recent weeks. Someone is trying to shame this entrepreneur. The aggressively worded paragraph that has been pasted two or three times into different parts of the article distracts from the readability of what is clearly a notable article. The entrepreneur appears to have tens or possibly hundreds of lawsuits either for or against him in his history. If the information that has recently been pasted in the heading about one litigation matter is partially or completely correct, it needs to be fact checked, placed under an appropriate heading as is seen with entrepreneur biographies on Wikipedia and reworded in a neutral fashion in Wiki-voice:

  • WP:WikiVoice at WP:NPOV: "Avoid stating opinions as facts. Usually, articles will contain information about the significant opinions that have been expressed about their subjects. However, these opinions should not be stated in Wikipedia's voice. Rather, they should be attributed in the text to particular sources, or where justified, described as widespread views, etc. — Preceding unsigned comment added by IlseBecker7 (talkcontribs) 08:14, 17 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

October, 2018 Page Protection Request resulting from more attempted attacks[edit]

A Page Protection Request has been submitted to Wikipedia admins. An update, fact check and recent information edit was done to this Wikipedia page for Jeffrey Peterson after we heard a lengthy biographical segment and news story about this entrepreneur on Sirius XM Radio in July. The subject personality is a significant figure in the history of technology companies and is possibly the creator of the first social network to trade on a Stock Exchange in the USA (See: Quepasa). I have been following developments in this story since then. The entrepreneur is involved in contentious defamation of character litigation against an influential political group consisting of past business partners. Since learning about it, I have have noticed the Wikipedia page being attacked and reverted numerous times over a span of the past few months. Attacks and vandalism have been from IP addresses and unregistered users. I previously commented on this talk page to bring attention to the attacks. Someone or some group of what appear to be highly charged adversaries of the entrepreneur have been trying to paste the disputed newspaper article itself in to the Jeffrey Peterson Wikipedia article at periodic intervals in an aggressive way (see the edits on the article for examples). As with many Wikipedia articles, Jeffrey Peterson appears as one of the first results in Google searches on the entrepreneur's full name so it might be a good idea to exercise caution in this case. The material being repeatedly pasted in to the article in an aggressive way and the existence of a dispute between business partners involving claims of libel and defamation does seem to fit Wikipedia's cautions regarding contentious material about living persons. Consider this a good faith 'heads up' about a situation that might pose a problem. A semi protected status is probably justified, given what seems to be a potentially volatile legal situation relating to the newspaper article published about this entrepreneur in December of 2017 the entrepreneur is now claiming is libelous; that article is apparently the source of the same information being repeatedly pasted in to this article. There are stories out there in the press right now about some of this if you Google his name. Thank you. IlseBecker7 (talk) 05:00, 6 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry but we don't protect pages preemptively. Damage to the article must actually be occurring, and that's not happening right now. The article is on my watch-list. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 11:31, 6 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
