Music Videos Updates

Hello, The music video "Space Age Love Song" by Flock of Seagulls (1982) mentioned under Jennifer Connelly's music videos is not an official video. Someone obviously made a video using the song and clips from her 1991 movie Career Opportunities. Two people posted this same video to Youtube and both seem to have been watched much more than the official video -hence the confusion. I checked whether the song was part of the soundtrack of the movie and re-released again. The answer is negative. After I discussed it in Biographies of Living Persons last week, the year of the video has been changed from 1982 to 1989. But it should be removed. Was never on East Anglia TV

There was another, younger, British child actress named "Jennifer Connelly" who appeared on TV in England in 1982. It was not this Jennifer Connelly. Do not re-add this to the article unless you can provide a proper cite. AllGloryToTheHypnotoad (talk) 21:55, 10 December 2020 (UTC)

This misconception has been reverted plenty of times. Slowly I'm starting to think that the article should be semi-protected. I'm not even mentioning the recent vandalism the entry suffered...--GDuwenHoller! 21:19, 9 February 2021 (UTC)

Lead image

Which makes more sense as a lead/infobox recognition image?

• 
  A: High resolution image with face filling more of frame, with natural skin tones, facing us.
• 
  B: Low resolution image, smaller proportion of frame, with weird skin tones, facing to the side, looking like a waxwork.

@Hohum: Thanks for making that point. The one on the left was originally used for the GAN. Someone decided to change it without giving any particular reason, but I just let it be at the time. Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Images is clear enough to establish that the proper image to use is the one on the left because of its quality and location NOT facing away from the body of the article.--GDuwenHoller! 18:32, 21 April 2021 (UTC)

Say which "Seventeen" magazine

The disambiguation page 17 #Magazines says, there is more than one "Seventeen" magazine. Therefore it is mandatory to say which one (visibly in the text, without the need of the mouse pointer).

Categories

This has already been discussed on my talk page (here). Connelly is of half Jewish descent so she can be included in Category:American people of Jewish descent. However, she shouldn't be included in Category:American people of Irish descent cuz it isn't for anyone who has/had less than 50% Irish ancestry IMO. "IMO?" Okay, you're clearly moving the goalposts to accommodate your opinion, but opinions aren't relevant here—only the facts are. And the fact remains that Category:American people of Irish descent isn't exclusive to those with 50% or more Irish ancestry. Moreover, ethnicity isn't something that can be quantified in percentages on the basis of anecdotal data. The notion that Category:American people of Irish descent should be exclusive to only those with 50% or more Irish ancestry is not the overwhelming consensus here on Wikipedia; that appears to be your own personal opinion.

As I previously responded on your talk page, both of Connelly's parents derive their ethnicities from their own parents and grandparents. Connelly describes her father's parents as Irish and Norwegian; hence, he is of Irish and Norwegian descent. Connelly describes her maternal great-grandparents as Ashkenazi Jews from Poland and Russia; hence, her mother is of Polish-Jewish and Russian-Jewish descent. Connelly herself self-identifies as an "Irish Jew", which reflects both her paternal and maternal ancestry. Nothing under WP:ETHNICRACECAT supports your claim that Connelly can be included in one category (Category:American people of Jewish descent), but not the other (Category:American people of Irish descent). I would argue this doesn't apply as Category:American people of Irish descent as the category name implies by using the word descent that it refers to ancestry rather than a persons ethnic group. This rule is used for categories such as Category:African Americans which refer to a persons specific ethnicity rather than their ancestry. Timceharris (talk) 01:38, 12 September 2023 (UTC)

Coming from a country built out of recent immigration (not the US, and we speak here of three or so generations), totally disagree. There's a difference in character, a difference in customs (it definitely plays a role for performers and musicians in their art oftentimes). People still carry a heritage: There's a good reason why you often have New Yorkers, Bostonians, or what-have-you that still refer to themselves as "Irish", "Italian" or so these days. There's probably a good reason why she specifically refers to herself as an "Irish Jew", even if she wasn't born in Ireland nor does she practice the religion.--GDuwenHoller! 18:35, 19 September 2023 (UTC)
