Nationality in infobox
[edit]WP:INFONAT is pretty much universally ignored when it comes to racing drivers. I can't see any reason to selectively apply it here. Humok (talk) 05:42, 27 September 2023 (UTC)
- Get a concensus passed that says it doesn't apply then, and we'll follow that. Nswix (talk) 05:46, 27 September 2023 (UTC)
- There is effective consensus - look at every other driver ever in the W series for example. Every single one has this infobox format. Pretty much every current F1 driver does llsit nationality (this is admittedly in a slightly more complex F1 infobox template). Every F2 driver does etc etc. Humok (talk) 05:52, 27 September 2023 (UTC)
- again, just because everyone does it, doesn't make it right. Point me to the ruling that says that WP:INFONAT applies to every infobox, except drivers. Nswix (talk) 06:00, 27 September 2023 (UTC)
- The MOS is a guideline - there doesn't need to be a ruling to ignore it when it's commonsense, and when essentially all the driver articles have this information included there is an established consensus - making including this information commonsense in this context. Humok (talk) 06:05, 27 September 2023 (UTC)
- so WP:INFONAT (an established MOS) vs. "trust me bro, I've been on Wikipedia for five days".
- I think I know which I'm going with. Nswix (talk) 06:12, 27 September 2023 (UTC)
- I see you've started a discussion at Project Motorsport so let's see what others think Humok (talk) 06:15, 27 September 2023 (UTC)
- As pointed out MOS is a set of guidelines. Also for British subjects the sporting nationality cannot be conclusively inferred by their birthplace. Tvx1 17:03, 27 September 2023 (UTC)

[edit]Is a long-distance photograph of a tiny head inside of a racecar the best we can do for a biography profile photo? - Hard thoughtful work (talk) 19:04, 26 April 2024 (UTC)
