A good reference is the Crypto-Jews site, which details some of the name's Sephardic associations. Note, as is the case with many Azkhenazi names in Germany, for example Oppermann, not all people whose family name is Jiménez are necessarily of Jewish ancestry. It merely means that the name was used by the Sepharadim, too. Such is the case with notable Sephardic surnames like de Carvalho, Oliveira, Lima, Peres/Perez.jaximenes 00:18, 19 June 2007 (EDT)

Of course not everyone named Jimenez is Jewish, but some do have Sephardic roots without even knowing. This is my surname, and I am Jewish. I've been to many sites and they state Jimenez as being a Jewish name. Here are some if you want to check them out... Genealogy.com,Sephardim.com, Tzemach Institute,Sephardic Surname List. P.S. I've posted a source to prove that this is a Jewish surname. It's not the original, but a good site.71.214.12.37 04:52, 8 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I know this is old but your websites are definitely not reliable. You saying Jimenez is a Jewish surname is like somebody saying Jackson is an African surname. Jimenez is in fact a patronymic surname which means son of Jimeno, it originated in the Basque lands. I don't know what your agenda is. Your websites state that common Spaniard surnames are Jewish...such as Garcia, Gomez, Lopez, Diaz, Rodriguez, etc., and thats what makes it funny, it seems like its trying to imply that most Spaniards are Jewish.

You being Jewish and having the surname Jimenez means nothing. I bet any money you are not even full Jewish. Did you forget that people can convert to Judaism any time? Secret killer (talk) 03:53, 6 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
