Shankill UVF or South Belfast UVF?[edit]

Seeing as Hanna lived in Lisburn wouldn't he have been the leader of the South Belfast UVF rather than the Shankill?--Jeanne Boleyn (talk) 18:16, 27 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Shankill according to Cusack & McDonald - added to the article now. Keresaspa (talk) 18:57, 27 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
OK, that solves the matter. Thanks. I was confused seeing as he was always mentioned as part of the Shankill UVF yet came from Lisburn.--Jeanne Boleyn (talk) 08:01, 28 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

1974 Dublin and Monaghan bombings[edit]

Seeing as Hanna was killed six weeks prior to the 1974 Dublin and Monaghan bombings, is there any reliable source which raises the possibility that he was shot because the UVF worried he would jeopardise the operation? I ask this seeing as he was the military commander of the UVF when the go-ahead was given by the Brigade Staff to attack the Republic of Ireland; therefore he'd have been privy to the details and those involved in the planned car bombings.--Jeanne Boleyn (talk) 12:28, 7 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A very interesting question Jeanne but impossible to know. Actually, I don't think Hanna was the CoS at the time of his death. My feeling is that he was CoS from late 72, possibly due to many of the top notchers being interned, until late '73 or early '74. By the time of the UVF's meetings with the Officials and Provisionals, which he attended, Tommy West may have been CoS. Billsmith60 (talk) 20:00, 9 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
